Sonic Youth - Goo, Dirty, Experimental Jet Set-trash no star

meh, I think this was by far sonic youth's least interesting period, and sorta embarrassing too.

I can see how you might say least interesting, as they were actually writing songs and not 17 minute feedback solos, although it still beats the shit out of most rock released around then. But embarrassing? That's a bit of a stretch

I liked it initially and there's still some great tracks, but overall it gets no-where near the level of Bad Moon Rising, Sister, DDN, Nurse, Murray Street etc. and this is coming from someone who has been listening to sonic youth since he was 12.

I'll take Goo and Experimental Jet Set over Sonic NUrse and Murray Street any day thank you. And this is coming from someone who's been listening to sonic youth for 20 years.

Most of my music collection from 1990-1994 is hip hop.

Name some albums, I like east coast sample based stuff mostly.

Here are some starting from '90 (some of these are from '95):

KMD - Mr. Hood

KMD Black Bastards

Biz Markie - I Need a Haircut

Public Enemy -Fear of a Black Planet

Main Source - Breaking Atoms

EPMD - Business as Usual

Eric B and Rakim - Let the Rhythm Hit 'Em

Tribe Called Quest - Low End Theory

Tribe Called Quest - Midnight Marauders

GZA - Liquid Swords

Wu Tang Clan - Enter the Wu Tang (36 Chambers)

Raekwon - Only Built for Cuban Linx

De La Soul - De La Soul is Dead

De La Soul - Buhloone Mindstate

Smiff 'n' Wessun - Da Shinin'

Black Moon - Enta Da Stage

Nas - Illmatic

There are a ton of others. 1989 and 1996 were key years too, but I didn't list anything from then.

Mine too, I hadn't even thought about it till you mentioned it.

thanks for not making me feel like a grandpa here....

Lol graduated high school in 92. Well, finished high school. Not ever really sure if I got my HS diploma. Not that it matters, I'm in uni now..high school was a waste of time anyways. So is uni for the most part.

Psyche/BFC - Elements

Released in 1996, but songs are from 1989-1990. Some of the most beautiful electronic music you'll ever hear.

I want this now, after all the recommendations. So expensive though

Aphex Twin's "On" and "Xylem Tube".

Yes, I have most of the obvious stuff. I was looking for stuff I've never heard of before. Mainly electronic. But I love these two releases so much.
