I bought an iPad

i think it gets so much hate because it was touted as a game changer and something totally new and revolutionary. a lot of people's issue with it, imo, is that it doesnt replace anything and means now if you carry an iphone, ipad and laptop, you are just a moron who buys toys because they are for sale.

i can see how it could be fun, but it really is a toy. apple never really made a toy before. most people have mp3 players, cell phones and laptops. apples are great. but the ipad doesnt replace any of them.

if you need to travel or want a portable internet device for your house and buy an $800 ipad rather than a 13" macbook, you're being very silly, again, imo.

ever consider that it is a game-changer BECAUSE it doesn't replace anything? If it replaced your phone, it would just be the new iphone. if it replaced your mp3 player, it would just be a new ipod. the point is that it is a new device entirely.

yet it's not.

right, well you may not buy into that either. I'm not sure i do. but my point is that you can't have it both ways: if it was just another iphone they'd say it wasn't novel enough, yet they complain that it doesn't replace your phone either, etc.

yea i understand. i am not an ipad hater either, im just saying i dont see the point for me. maus made some good points but to buy this thing for only traveling and such seems frivolous to me. i guess if you can buy a macbook pro and an ipad and iphone, then hey, good for you.

but for me if im traveling i could see plenty of times saying damn i wish i had my iphone for gps and maps or laptop to dump photos on but not, damn this movie would be so much better if i had my ipad propped and balanced nicely on this tray.

i think maybe the next one will be really nice, say for video chat and some next level stuff but if its all riding on the at&t network, well then godspeed.

well tbh I can't understand why nobody did something like the ipad before. it certainly isn't a conceptual or technological milestone. I bet the reason is that if someone not apple did it it wouldn't have sold at all.

the touch interface on this thing is great.

but i hate mac. not because they are stylish, and not because hardcore mac fetishists bother me.

i hate steve jobs. he wants to force his bullshit morality on what he allows on the hardware. fuck you, steve jobs.

many have tried, including Apple, but they did it wrong. So they failed. Now Apple is doing it right. It doesn't fail. You hate it. trashbear.

dunno, i've spent money on worse things. namely, game consoles back in the day, or.. the Novation Launchpad. which is a very inspiring plastic box with 64 lit rubber buttons. i hate it.

lol. im sure i will get one in the future when they are worth getting. it will be nice when your central entertainment system is run on your hd and the ipad is your household remote for music in different rooms, lights, tv, etc...

You have a web browser on the iPad - use it.

Also iPad is not reliant on AT&T from all accounts.

That doesn't help people who've had their itunes products censored, even if it's not strictly pornography, because steve jobs feels he has a 'moral obligation'

Jobs supports the worst of censorship... with zero accountability

Jobs recently said that originally the iPhone started out as the iPad, and had the brainstorm that "this would make a really great phone", and thus, the iPhone was born.

riiiiiiiiight. Those anti-cancer meds are taking their toll on old Steve, methinks.

yeah, i mean we're all used to apple making phones now, but before the iphone, an apple tablet was much more plausible than a apple phone. not as much of a left turn.

Yeah, I suppose you're right - ever since the ill-fated Newton, Apple devotees have been wanting such a device, so I guess it makes sense after all.

Jobs still looks like he could play Skeletor in any He-Man live action remake.

sounds plausible to me. what surprises me is that nobody thought to make a pad thingie with the hardware of a smartphone before. or maybe nobody but apple could sell one.

just like to say I'm in the apple shop posting this on an iPad. it's really good actually. I feel like I'm in star trek TNG on some sort of data pad thing.
