Did others watch and enjoy this television program?

i was a big fan.

i remember waiting ages for it to come to a conclusion, or imply there was going to be one. But it just sort of trickled out.

anyway, apparently JJ Abrams is going to make a Samurai Jack film. And i see very little reason why that wouldn't be awesome (if it ever happens).

it was a cool show when it came out because there wasn't much other cool stuff but now it has been entirely co-opted by annoying people and we have a glut of cool animation so the "new season" will be fan-service and not cool

I really wanted to love Samurai Jack during its original air but I think I'd seen too many Japanese animations which did the whole Shogun/Spaghetti Western thing far better. The black border art style is unique and eye catching, but the character animations feel like a kind of ironic jab at John Kricfalusi's style without the brilliant humour. Perhaps I'm missing the big picture but SJ just seemed to take itself to seriously for what it is.

The above redux trailer looks kinda cool though... Perhaps I will check it out.

I was just about to post that samurai jack didn't take itself very seriously. There was episode about a farting dragon. The art style of genndy tartakovsky had been well established by dexter's lab. I can see the connection with kricfalusi but as far as I can sense, the ironic revival of 50's / 60's graphic design had been a big trend in comics and cartoons for a lot of artists in the 90's. Just my two cents.

i don't think the show took itself too seriously but a lot of the fans kinda did, which soured the appeal for me. I still liked it during its initial run

i love Samurai Jack. it has a vibe that i've never seen in a tv show before. i don't really know how to explain it but i usually describe it as 'ambient'. no one seems to know what i mean by that though.

it always drove me nuts how the story never finished so i'm so glad it'll finally get a resolution.

Latest episode was good minus the Aku opening sequence. Very strange comical opening that definitely didn't fit the grim tone of the rest of the episode.

Ep. 3  - Well, that escalated quickly. Samurai Jack ain't fucking around. Lovely execution of color & design in this episode.

Thoroughly enjoyed the final season. The finale wrapped everything up in a bittersweet bow.

also, thanks to Genndy for giving me a boner for Ashi. What a smokeshow.
