baph Posted January 20, 2011 Share Posted January 20, 2011 I used to have this jacked up TV when I was little, and when Powdered Toast Man would appear and say "Powdered Toast Man!," accompanied by strobing, heroic lights, the strobing would cause the screen of said TV to flicker uncontrollably and the sound for some reason cut out when the screen reached its whitest level. As a result, the "Powdered Toast Man!" announcement would sound all cut up: "P--De--T-OOOO--STTT- M--AH--AHH-- AN!" and that's the reason I got into Autechre. From the fog horn that accompanied the hyper-detailed closeups, to the eyeballs moving in their sockets, this show had it all. Don't even get me started on the music. The scene near the end when Ren freaks out is absolutely over the top. Such a good episode.
