how is true grit nominated for best picture? did anyone actually watch it? the end was terrible. you don't just go "well, that's that! thanks for watching!" after the huge climax. it builds up and falls off a cliff of failure.

Was not a good movie.

I liked a couple parts. Jeff Bridges is always fun to watch. That is basically it.

Oh yeah, and everything about the little girl bugged the shit out of me. Everything.

hahah, i liked the little girl. i thought the character was well-written cause they kept in mind that she grew up watching her dad make all these trade deals, so she basically imitates him throughout the movie.

Interesting point.

The things that bothered me were that, to me, it seemed like she was nothing more (other than a narrative device) than a channel for clever dialogue. I feel like the Cohen Bros stopped making movies for audiences years ago, which is cool and all, but I get bored when I'm watching a movie and I feel like I'm supposed to be in awe of how witty the dialogue is... especially when it isn't.

I also didn't like that she didn't have any genuinely emotional scenes to connect you to her character. I felt like this was the films main flaw. I get that she wants to find her dad. Fine. Just show me that she loves him and misses him and I might become emotionally invested. Not too complicated.

That movie can lick my sack.

i loved true grit. i think you people set your expectations too high. it's not supposed to be a powerful emotional epic. it's just a story about some cowboys. i thought it was very humble, not trying too hard to draw attention or deliver satisfaction, but instead acting as a faithful literary adaptation with seriously gorgeous cinematography.

also, i remember reading that the coens lifted most of the dialogue straight from the book, so perhaps they are not entirely to blame if the characters' wit does not resonate with you.

on topic, i'm curious to see if leonardo dicaprio uses his oscar-sucking charisma to rake in some wins for inception. it seems like 2010 was a slow year for film.

The Inception soundtrack is mindblowing in my opinion, Hans Zimmer is a god.

for all the flak the man gets, he does make a good soundtrack....maybe they all sound similar, but if it works in context, it works.
