“So it’s just straw.”

Yes, in the same sense that the Hope Diamond is just carbon, and the Mona Lisa is just paint.

Move over, stupid art and jewelry, it looks like we've got a new treasure to cherish

if anyone told me their hat cost 35 grand, i'd be extremely tempted to remove it from their head, smiling sweetly, drop it on the ground and step all over it.

if you've got 35 grand to spend on a hat and you spend it on a hat you're a fucking asshammer.

Imagine someone weaving linen by hand, one thread at a time, and you begin to have some idea of what these hats are like. The finest require three months to weave. Three months. A single hat.

"and I paid the bastard 3 dollars a month, meaning I made $34,991 on this sale...oh shit I wasn't supposed to type that."

Wait, it says $25,000 now

edit: also, I get the feeling that this page was specifically designed to make the average person go "argh fuckin rich people" & share the link on forums. Clever marketing there.

Well, if you look at the catalogue, you can actually buy one of this chap's hats - of an allegedly lower quality - for $500 or thereabouts.

That's still a hell of a lot of money for a hat, but compared to $25,000 it seems like a bargain. Now, a hat approaching the quality of a $25,000 model is within your lower-middle-class grasp...

That's clever marketing.

Fuck i'd love someone to buy one and get it stolen while walking down the street. Pretty funny that it'd have basically no resale value because it's just a fucking hat.
