A man so bloated that a neighbour who saw his body on a lawn mistook it for a whale carcass was stung to death by hornets after apparently trying to have sex with their nest.

The 35-year-old, known only as Hasse, was found unconscious after his reportedly stinging sex session.

The apparently misguided man died an hour after he was located on his farm in Ystad, Sweden.

A neighbour said he looked like a beached whale, due to the inflammation caused by the stings.

Following an autopsy that revealed Hasse had 146 stings on his body – 54 of those on his genitals – authorities came to the conclusion he tried to have sex with the hornets’ nest.

Police are said to have found semen and the deceased man’s pubic hair on a few of the dead insects and at the opening of the nest.

Unsurprisingly, the reports of the unfortunate event did not go down well with animal rights campaigners, who expressed concern for the hornets.

We’re not sure if the unfortunate man was taking his appreciation of late Swedish author Stieg Larsson to a rather literal level…

The web was abuzz today with the apparent news that a man in Sweden had died after trying to have sex with a nest of hornets.

Reports circulated across the world of a man so bloated that his body was mistaken for a whale carcass.

The 35-year-old, apparently known only as Hasse, was said to have been found unconscious next to his farm in Ystad, Sweden.

A neighbour was quoted as saying Hasse looked like a beached whale due to the inflammation caused by hundreds of stings.

However, it now appears as though the story was too good to be true, albeit not for the unfortunate Hasse, as he is said to not even exist.

The original source for the story has now been traced to a satirical website in Sweden, which reported the stinging tale back in September, 2012.

It was originally reported animal rights campaigners were concerned about the wellbeing of the hornets, but we are now fairly sure no hornets (or men called Hasse) were harmed in the making of this story.

I keep picturing this fake Hasse guy acting out the ultra polite dating dialogue from Vsnare's "Plunging Hornets" before plunging his dick into some hornets

Hasse's only goal here was to become a whale. His methods may have been questionable, but you have to admire his determination.

I'd love to agree but that's what the article OP linked to says!
