Arcade Fire - Reflektor

incredibly earnest muppet.

I keep re-reading this in absolute delight. The combination of these three words is working some kinda magic on me. Or maybe it's just the fact that you wrote "muppet."

All that said, I played this song once and wasn't that into it. Not sure I'll enjoy the more electronic direction, and the song felt overlong. Needless to say I'm not excited at all about it being a double album. As much as I like The Suburbs, even it feels a bit overlong sometimes. Double albums are almost never a good idea.

Still, I'm hoping I'll enjoy this.

I'm really curious - I never try to overthink upcoming albums anymore but maybe double album. It doesn't look too long actually, "Reflektor" is the 2nd longest song. Hell, less songs than Suburbs actually.

As for the style I'm glad they're trying something new, I'm just not sure if I'll dig it.

I remember thinking "sounds like a LCD Soundsystem track" and sure enough James Murphy produced it.

makes total sense.

finally heard the recorded version of reflektor. lol @ bowie. not terrible but the chorus is kinda annoying

I think it's way better than The Suburbs and Neon Bible. There's no "oh shit we gotta live up to Funeral, eh?" vibe here. Nicely done, Arcade Fire.

why are all these songs so long? pompous as shit. because the world needs another rock band complaining about being a rock band. it's not 1970. get the fuck outta here.

this is the first time i listen to this band...

it sounds exactly how i imagined... retro & boring.

makes me want to go shop for a cardigan or socks or something.

there's so much "yeah the 60s & 70s and shit were really cozy" vibe in this it makes me fucking sick.

i like some of their music, they are on the right track for moody melodic music, but the replay value is low. its like i heard it a few times and thats it. there is something missing, but i dont really know what. tastes great less filling

Normal Person is the kind of song everyone is going to say is shit, because it has a great melody and awesome riffage. "Too accessible". If you say you like it, you won't seem sophisticated even though it took a great amount of sophistication to make that track. Just calling it now.

I like that track but I feel like I've heard it before. sounds like an apple commercial or something.

in fact, a lot of this album sounds like I've heard it before. the bassline on the 2nd track reminds me of some 80s song. the third track is a straight up reggae/dub track and porno sounds exactly like a dr dre beat.
