After Trump got shot at, someone on Twitter said "in 10 days we'll all have forgotten about this", and now about 15 days later it does indeed seem that no-one is talking about it anymore

Yes that is because USA Is big mess.
Now everything is about JD Vance's weirdness and Kamala's laughter that is in focus. Trump is not even in focus anymore.

I swear soon some Pornstar or Onlyfans influencer gonna be dropping a bomb about JD Vances dirty sides and everyone is gonna jump on that as usual.
Nothing seems serious and only just made up sketches by now.

This is all to distract from the facts about more people getting poorer

both parties lie but since Trump has taken over the republican party, they have abandoned reality altogether for a cult of personality. Saying insane false stuff is a loyalty test to the big cheeto

I really hope she doesn’t pick Buttigieg as her running mate. When he was in the running for president, he started out fine and at the end was kinda snide and I didn’t like his attitude. Kinda like some kid in school who felt threatened because they were a bit nerdy or vulnerable so they started acting mean to the other kids as a defensive strategy. That kind of thing really bugs me.

I’d wager they are going to go with a candidate with broad appeal. My bet is on Mark Kelley.

She will likely pick a straight white male, to shore up support in the Midwest and South, plus she's trying to appeal to the African American voters, and some Southern Baptists have a problem with homosexuality, still.

like 98% of them do.

edit: good interview about JD Vance not speaking for kentucky/Appalachia. she's very well spoken.

edit edit:

i think she's basically calling trump a bitch.

edit edit edit:

hedges always has a darker take on everything but i find him interesting for being a dose of realism even if it's tinged with a certain agenda that has persisted for a long time. lacks pragmatism but highly principled and often right about a lot of things.

days later:

The Heritage Foundation announced Tuesday that the top official behind Project 2025, the conservative think tank’s far-reaching plan to overhaul the U.S. government, is stepping down, but that the project’s remaining work would be led by its president. - source

i’m still going to do the harm reduction argument mental gymnastics and vote for the less psychotic choice. If we’re all going to be in the streets eventually… might as well have health insurance in the mean time. I don’t see any reason not to vote for our survival.

wow what a fucking dick thing to say -

Quote

“She was always of Indian heritage, and she was only promoting Indian heritage,” Trump said. “I didn't know she was Black until a number of years ago, when she happened to turn Black, and now she wants to be known as Black. So I don't know, is she Indian or is she Black?"

I know I shouldn't be surprised at this point by any of the crap he spews out. but it's just surreal how he can always get away with being such a racist dickwad out in the open and millions of people are totally ok with it...even defend him, say shit like "oh he didn't mean it that way, he meant blah blah blah." how tf do you defend "happened to turn black." he's such a piece of shit

Perhaps one can defend it if one is a piece of shit themself?

which to me equals millions of people in this country. millions and millions of people out there ready to hand wave away another vile comment of his, think it's ok for him to say things like this and get away with it. just sweep it under the rug and vote for the guy. ready to cheer him on the next time he raises his fist at a rally, says the next stupid ass incompetent thing he says whenever he's surrounded by white people wearing red hats and waving flags bearing his name.

remember way back in the pre-trump era, no public political figure would ever make such an outwardly racist comment for fears of their entire career going down the drain. if they did, they would be hanged in the realm of public opinion, derided by the media, and they'd be forced to more than likely publicly apologize for what they said. no one in their right mind would publicly defend that person for making a racist comment...that was what, like 10 years ago? now here we are. trump has normalized all this garbage. it's more or less expected that he will say something divisive, vulgar, and/or misogynistic, which he knows he can get away with because of the millions of people that defend him. this to me is beyond sick and is a reminder of the decline in public decency we've all seen in a huge segment of the population in this country since trump came on the political scene.
