The Very Best - The Warm Heart Of Africa

The mixtape was in my Top 3 albums for 2008, so I'm excited Press blah: The Very Best’s—European production duo Radioclit and Malawian singer Esau Mwamwaya—debut full-length Warm Heart of Africa will be released this fall on Green Owl. The album follows the surprising global success of Esau Mwamwaya & Radioclit Are The Very Best, a free mixtape made available online late last year. Without promotional assistance or financial support, the collection of well-known pop, dance, afro and indie tracks remixed by Radioclit featuring Mwamwaya’s singing in Chichewa, Swahili, Portuguese and English charted more than 200,000 downloads and was hailed by tastemakers incl…

SecondaryCell - "Interconnected" - 6/12/09
by Guest SecondaryCell- 2 replies
The third SecondaryCell album "Interconnected" will be released tomorrow, June 12th. This album is a bit of a departure from the styles on my first two releases. Previously I made a conscious decision to avoid heading into minimal techno/trance territory, and I also had not experimented much with ambient textures. With Interconnected I decided "anything goes" and the result is a 43 minute roller coaster ride of continuously flowing music. Although designed to be listened to as a whole piece the album is divided into seven minimal techno, beat-driven sections interspersed with another seven shorter ambient/drone compositions. The physical CD will contain the four…

ACP052: Lastrapink - Portals Portals is the debut LP by Venezuela's Lastrapink. Years ago he was impressed by the acid underground music that was brought to Venezuela from London, and so so decided to travel to the UK to learn English and to perform his own music in various UK parties and clubs. Soon after he made the jump to Berlin to work with people such as Phlex, Vertical 67 and the Hasenland krew, and to play alongside such luminaries as Plaid, Jega and Modeselektor at RockPaperScissor parties. Since then he has also been playing gigs under the name 'Andromede' with his partner Q Squared, playing at parties in the UK and Berlin. He is currently taking his …

the online release is months before the CD drops, an attempt at battling piracy i guess. if you liked their debut, you will be pleased with this one. a little more on the electro/synth pop tip sometimes, but that disco guitar is still going a million miles an hour.

Blaq Poet - The Blaqprint

http://streethopmagazine.wordpress.com/200...r-tracklisting/ Basically He's his new Guru or Jeru. Not a street poet or an intellectual for sure, more like straight street stories and morals with a very hardcore style. Not a shock to the system when you hear him like Guru or Jeru's voice, but he does have a commanding one, and some nice rhymes. BTW Def Premos dopest beats in a LOOOONNNG TIME. The First Single, Ain't Nothing Changed. Decent, most commercial, and gives you a good idea of his rapping skills. The most unreal banger Premos done in a long time with N.O.R.E. (1st verse: N.O.R.E, 2nd: Poet) Beware this is no Sun Rises in the east. This is…

ACP051: Blake Market - Polynesia-town LP "One of the most fascinating things about electronic music is the rate at which things change; genres can emerge and disappear within a matter of months, years can often represent generations of influence. Unlike many artists who can't see the beach for the palm trees, Blake Market cheekily winks at current trends. Rather than blindly leaping aboard a bandwagon with no known nautical destination, he decides it's best to chill out and devote the day to rigging up the yacht in a proper manner. Polynesia-Town skillfully applies the techniques of dub, and it's progeny dubstep, to an entirely different soundset. Jazz horns are…
