Yellow Then Blue - Tosche Station EP

[CF029] Yellow Then Blue - Tosche Station EP Released on Sun 16th August at http://www.thecentrifuge.co.uk, free download. A retroprogressive style EP. Electronica ripened under the California sun. Release Info: Tosche Station is an album based on using the Yamaha QY70 hardware sequencer. While listening to some particularly challenging and tech savvy music I realized that some of the most forward thinking music, and some of my favorite albums, were made before music making on computers became the norm. People had to push the limits of what their hardware could produce to realize the sounds in their heads. This album is an effort to pay homage to these early…

released today. nice folk-pop guitars over drums with his hazy reverb soaked vocal style mixed low. I really liked "be with" and this sounds great as well. samples

Philip Jeck at his best, mixes of guitars (?), droning ghosts & dusty ambient. Beautiful atmospheres yet totally creepy. Pretty short (17min) but pretty cheap & extremely limited. On a new cassette label called The Tapeworm. http://www.tapeworm.org.uk/ttw01.html http://www.touchshop.org/

Fluxion - Constant Limber

awesome new dub techno album! Unlike most dub techno, this is actually funky and dancy, but still a headtrip. Really good techno. "t's hard to overestimate the importance of this Basic Channel / Chain Reaction recording artist and so it comes as little surprise that his debut release on Resopal is as sublime as it is. What you will receive for your investment is an eighteen minute outstanding soundscape in the dephts of dub. The a side 'Breath Mode' is of course a dubby affair with Fluxion himself breathing through a vintage analogue vocoder keyboard, a fog-of tones and keys wrapped up in velvet space echoes and cushioned pads filled with nothing but warmth and spac…

best fall album in a long long time. 50 year old man is stunning (the same track in three styles with a weird-ass banjo interlude), and the nod to dubstep on exploding chimney is hilarious. there's another that i am SURE samples/apes/mocks steve miller band's abracadabra, lol even mark's missus track is great.

Carl Craig & Moritz von Oswald - ReComposed
by Guest Hanratty- 3 replies
This needs its own topic. In my opinion this is better than the Moritz Von Oswald Trio (which is still pretty good). These guys are just beyond terms like "dub techno" and are making everyone else look bad by comparison. All these guys are chasing Basic Channel, and Von OSwald's moved on to fresher ideas. http://www.dustedmagazine.com/reviews/4646

Mos Def - The Ecstatic
by Guest AOOproductions- 10 replies

Black on both sides still finds its way into my CD player and his solo tracks from Rawkus's Soundbombing compilations are quite spectacular. He needs to remind people how good of a rapper he can be, very badly. And he needs to never act again. http://pitchfork.com/news/34854-mos-def-re...ithe-ecstatici/ two new tracks are on his Myspace an they sound nice.

clicky on my first listen right now. sounds pretty idm for a guitar/bass drums trio! somewhat like a cross between king crimson's instrumentals from the 80s-90s and the mathyness of don caballero. great stuff!

http://www.boomkat.com/item.cfm?id=195642 Anyone else heard this? Great summer music! Check that first track! I don't even like house music at all. The only house I like is Moodyman, Green Velvet, and now this. This got a big writeup in pitchfork and I have to agree.

Two awesome tracks, one in danger of inspiring mashed potato sculptures the world around: tape. cool standard Mark Fell piece ("Thunder") and strangely engrossing track by Roc/EVOL on the flip ("Bollocks"). If you liked their first tape, you'll love this one!
