So it's fairly well accepted, from what I gather, that Balil = Ed and Atypic = Andy. But what of the other pseudonyms on bytes and trainer. Discogs says that Andy = Tura, but discogs isn't exactly reliable and says that Close, Up, Over = Ken and I could swear that on the os 9 version of their site Plaid had a free track by Close, Up, Over. So what do we know and on what is that info based? So discuss. Using words if necessary.

Nord Rute has been cancelled and instead Plaid are going to play a live/AV set in Victoria Baths - Manchester. For those who don't know Victoria Baths is a disused public swimming baths, they will be playing in the basin of the baths so pretty special http://www.futureeverything.org/festival2010/plaid

plaid Should The Black Dog (In it's Current Incarnation) be Featured In This Subforum? 1 2
by Joyrex- 43 replies
- 5.2k views
SPD brought up the idea of having a The Black Dog subforum, and while I haven't personally checked out their current work, I thought since they were the progenitors of Plaid, perhaps rather than feature them in their own subforum, we 'add' them to this subforum since there is some overlap. Have you say and vote, and let's see where this goes...

plaid 'Booc' Live, April 2010
by Guest sirch- 2 replies

I found this the other day and thought it sounded really good. didn't recognise it at first then realised it was Booc when the bassline came in! they've changed most of the sounds tho so it sounds more fresh and up to date, i guess. but i like it. was wondering if this was one of the tracks they've played out recently as part of their 'classics' sets... or whether it was a 'one-off' ? most all of Plaids' tracks have that 'timeless' quality i think. they still sound fresh and not dated, whether they change the sounds or the arrangements around or not! that's a truely magical thing. :)

...about Bytes

On the allmusic's review of Bytes, you can find this, somewhere in the text: "...Although all of the material was previously released in 12" or EP form, it holds up surprisingly well as a unified, coherent whole. With..." The thing is, i don't really get the bold part. Are there EP's with those tracks?

The biography on The Black Dog's webpage
by Guest ruiagnelo- 16 replies

On their site (The Black Dog)there used to be a Bio section where Ken Downie talked about how The Black Dog was born and the years he spent travelling, from where he got his musical influences, but now it's missing. Is there any alternative location of that text or does someone here have it?

They've got a show coming up, at which they'll be launching the new album. So I keep checking the site to see if there's an official date for the album release. But they don't even have the event up there, WTF? And this message is still up there: "We continue to play some of the material destined for our next album live but we still have no release date. Thanks for the many emails of support and frustration. We'll be posting more details here as we have them." Wake up, Plaid! Wait, I get it. Maybe a new site is in the works so they're not updating the current one. But still, you'd think they would promote the event at least...even without more details…

PLAID FULL LIVE AV SHOW + ALBUM LAUNCH!! plus LUKE VIBERT (laptop set) + DMX KREW live LP launch + KING CANNIBAL (ninja tune) + P45 + Ash-Eq 9 - 3 Sat 6th March 2010 @ KOKO www.ticketweb.co.uk One of the very first signings to the venerable Warp stable, and still one of the most prolific artists on that home of oh-so-many hard-working creatives, Plaid have always pushed the boundaries both musically and visually having recognized the potential of the two mediums and the advances in technology that has afforded them to take this realisation to it's conceivable limits. As their recent collaboration with BBC Sound-recordist Ross Adams 'Nord Rute' shows Andrew Turn…

A new addition to the planned list of cities, Warp20 visits Berlin for two nights at the legendary Berghain. Last Friday 4th December saw Battles take their new songs to Germany for the first time with specially-invited guests. This forthcoming Friday (11th December) is an all-night rave across both Berghain and Panorama Bar, bringing the year of Warp20 parties to a fitting finale. Please note the rare opportunity to be able to buy tickets in advance for the Berghain/Panorama Bar - so make sure to grab one if you want to get in easily. So my new boxset arrived this morning from Warp with 4 Plaid productions on it but with one problem.. I got rid of my decks ages ago! There are 2 unheard Plaid tracks on 10" Dett, Sam Lac Run & Ol is also on 10" Does anyone know if there is a plan to get digital versions of these or do I have to scour mates with decks to record them?!?
