What song got you into electronic music?

I gained a love for synths and hip hop through my parents and brother, but the first time I remember electronic music blowing me away was probably the soundtrack to the original Wipeout. Not sure if any song in particular but that was really my first introduction to Chemical Brothers, Prodigy, Leftfield, Orbital, etc. Found Aphex not long after and the rest is history.

autechre - second bad vilbel... seen the vid on mtv's amp late one night and went crazy trying to find some of their stuff then bought 'envane' from a local record store and pretty much fell in love with the complexity and wickedness of the synths and beats from 'laughing quarter'. and back then i didn't think of asking the record store employee to order tri repatae for me and i didn't have internet at the time to order from warp til a month or so later, ordered all ae's stuff, aphex, boc, plaid and was then abandoned the guitar/shredding metal scene and glued myself to the computer and bought a korg poly 800 II synth and trying to find what type of synth made my now all time favorite ae tune 'second scepe' and started producing electronica. but since i was pretty happy and got bored with electronic music, i picked the guitar up and started to record guitar with electronic beats and synths with cubase vst.

probably the soundtrack to megaman 2

you know, I never took vid games into consideration. I still remember almost all the megaman 2 songs STILL after all these years. Good call.

Juan Atkins/Cybotron - CLEAR/Alleys of your mind

I've probably heard other electronic stuff before back then, but that one I remember pretty well.

You most assuredly took the subtitle to this thread very seriously. Props. My stepbrothers live in Bonn.

haha I'm beginning to remember.. I was kinda dissappointed at first, because it was just a Maxi and a Remix instead of a full Album and the music was just too weird.

And of course: tekkno smurfs

Slowly built up from other things.

Same...namely industrial. I used to go to this industrial club a lot, sometimes 80s night, whatever...so a lot of it was dance and electronic already (industrial dance, new wave, 80s, etc.) They would play videos on big screens. I was mesmerized when I heard & saw this...

Underworld - "Mmm Skyscraper I Love You"

It had hints of industrial and new wave, sort of, but propelled me in a new direction. Soon after I was also listening to The Orb, Orbital, Aphex Twin, etc.

Around The World and Da Funk by Daft Punk

Then I was given the Come to Daddy EP by a friend, cos it creeped him out and borrowed his Hive CD and he also gave me Computer World on vinyl.

Guest Lube Saibot

Cause of my dad, i grew up with Kraftwerk and JMJ and Vangelis and the like. Also when i was like 8 i had a year-long phase were i was obssessed with Captain Jack's first album. But i had no personal impetus or much of a taste for it. I wasn't until many years later and an exhausted faith in band music that i started looking for "different" things. First foray was into industrial and electro-industrial stuff put that didn't do much for me, it was too cheesy, too cheap, too stupid. Around that time i first heard Windowlicker. That was it. It was one of those painful epiphanies... i had wasted 17 years of my life.
