The beats don't really remind me that much of Aphex or Squarepusher (aside from that they're of a style those artists helped define), but it reminds me a lot of older Telfon Tel Aviv. TTA had a kind of similar cinematic thing going on. Anyway, I've liked a few big budget epic battle movies in my time too --they can't all be Herzog. Benn's good at what he does, and it probably does genuinely resonate emotionally for him when he makes it. Just because something's super polished doesn't mean no heart went into it. I don't care if it's on the same level as Drukqs on paper Drukqs has a completely different intent like to literally overwhelm and put the responsibility on the listener to 'keep up'. flahbulb is like soooo epic.
