i would like to hear another concise, 3-5 track ep. something like gantz graf, with a lead track and a few other tracks with a similar feel. though i don't think we'll get anything new for at least another year.

something in 5.1 should be a gimmick gescom album like minidisc.

it's great for what it is, but it's not what i'd expect of proper ae.

I don't think Minidisc was a gimmick. But I wouldn't include it in their canon for sure.

Been caught sleeping, but today I listened to the FACT mix for the first time, and was over joyed! Heheh more Autechre genuis to lose myself in.

While at it definitely check out the 1/2-hr radio mix they did for the Mary Anne Hobbs show in 2008 - pure distilled Ae genius :sup:

I'm perfectly happy with what we have. Autechre are one of the most productively fertile groups on WARP right now. They have released material consistently for 19 years.

Their last release was only last year (their tenth album, plus an EP long enough to qualify as an eleventh). Yet Boards of Canada have had a five year gap since their last release, their third album. I ask you, who is the superior group?

I'd rather have Ae take their sweet, perfectionist time. . . and give us some fucking Gescom already in the meantime.

Gescom out, damnit!

surely you don't reeeeally need to ask that question!? :)

BoC have lost their 'midas touch', it's obvious, imo.

Clearly, Autechre are. They've been releasing music at quite a steady rate for years now and there's nary an album or EP that doesn't have great ideas, which many can only hope to imitate.

I reckon this thread's as good as any to tell you folks my plan for course of action and I know you might think "Cool story, bro", "Riveting tale, chap" etc. or might compare me to Dragon's ultimatum to BoC.. but here goes:

I am not going to listen to Autechre's studio output at home or on my computer until their next release comes out. I will still buy their music. I will not tell my friends to turn off their music if they are playing it. I will not listen to any leaks or fakes. As soon as there is news on autechre.ws of a new release, I will pre-order it. I will be in total awe if their next release bares the name 'Kiosk'. If they have a concert I can go to in the interim, I will. If they disband while I'm in this period of taking a break, I will feel like an idiot and promptly go back to listening to their music again.

Make no mistake: this is NOT at all because I am one of those people who thinks Incunabula or Cavity Job is the best thing they have ever done and that they get progressively worse.
