Portal 2

So I'd stopped following the portal 2 development for a while but I realized the release is right around the corner and I was watching some of the vids on the official site and I must say... WOW... I really liked the first one a lot but this second one looks to be friggin AMAZING. The new gameplay elements look really cool and the game looks far more engaging than the first. Also psyched to try out the new co-op mode, looks like that could be a lot of fun and an interesting new dynamic to the game. I look forward to taking my time figuring this new one out. Anyone else excited to play Portal 2?

BTW I reccomend checking some of the vids for those that haven't seen all the new gameplay elements... :braindance:

I never played Portal. But I tried it a couple of times and understand what it is and why everyone loves it.

I might buy Portal 2 if only because it's still a long wait until LA Noire (May?) and Arkham City (October?).

I expect the puzzles to have me completely stumped within an hour.

Eh, kind of sucks that it's rated E for everyone. I think they should have taken a darker turn and left if T or M or whatever it was. But the fact that Steven Merchant plays the little robot, I'll probably buy it. Portal was kickass.

This.

Portal had an incredible atmosphere, I appreciated the humor, but the whole atmosphere of the game, was what made it an amazing game to me. I'm really scared that Portal 2 will lack this (based on the Co-op trailers i watched).

Edit: But the new puzzle mechanics looks fun.

If you buy it for PS3, and link yor PSN account to your existing Steam account, you will receive a Mac/PC (Steam) version as well.

Valve's reasoning, if you've bought the code then it is yours. No such joy for Xbox users as there is no Steam integration.

In short, if you PC and PS3, buy the PS3 version and you will get both!

Valve are the boys!

From what I understand it is virtually confirmed for Mac, is that right?

yes, it was always announced as being a launch title for the Macintosh as well as PC and PS3.

co-op storyline is separate from the single player storyline. also it has already been stated that the Co-Op trailer is not indicative of the kind of puzzles that are in Co-Op, by a Valve staff member.

I'm guessing the rating is mainly due to it being robots and not humans that are getting crushed/burned/dismembered, but that doesn't compromise the experience from a 1st person view imo.

Also there's a chance some strictly raised kids are gonna get to play a decent game for a change, with parental approval.

you still play as Chell in the single player experience

Does the E for everyone rating mean that there won't be any blood splatters if you get shot by a turret? if so, that's lame...

That's quite a bizarre criterion in which to judge a game !

From what I've seen the single player still has the darker feel... You play as Chell again and GladOS is re-awakened and she remembers what you did in the first game and seems to be a little bitter about it. I think the reason it's rated E is because there is no blood and gore, and it's robots and machines that you are destroying... "for science". You can tell the vibe is still there by this vid, listen to GladOS near the end...

"Don't disappoint me, or I'll make you wish you could die."

I'd say it's retaining the feel of the first game.

it is stephen merchant - and his character, wheatley, is going to be a major part of gameplay.

you really should do yourself a favour and get the orange box, spratters (if you're a pc gamer, anyway). best deal in the history of gaming.

The game is gonna be awesome and a masterpiece, it's the absence of blood what's lame.

Well I can only speak for myself, but the only reason I was even able to play portal was the little bit of blood when I died. Without that, the game is nothing.
