I'm interested in this. Wasn't 100% with Giza, but I adore their debut EP.

Artwork looks pretty fitting. For the uninitiated, they do nostalgic, horror film inspired EBM.

mhhh okay. Getting an idea what the record is about is a bit difficult when you are looking at the artwork. HIT seems to be glued to the plastic art of their last releases.

Will give this a try.

The cover art is pretty shit though.

possibly the worst cover art i've ever seen. i like their sound and packaging the music with a vhs cassette with corresponding videos and (in this case) video games- but i don't know what they're thinking as far as artwork.

The Giza one is really fitting to the music- but the new seems to be a split-product as well. Seems they are also releasing a PC game with the release so the artwork would make sense. But nevertheless, for the music alone in a horror-b-movie-modus this is far to abstract. My first thought on this was japanese bubble gum pop.

Where have you heard the samples?

i wonder if this one will have any verbatim barely editing Synergy songs full plundered. Don't get me wrong, gatekeeper is pretty aweosme but when i heard that i kind of fell off my chair.

Sorry, I was a bit leaded by the first album. Maybe they changed their sound radically or they are really into other sound terrains now. I would be also looking to a preview of the album.

For what it's worth, I saw somebody tweet about how the cover art gives off huge winamp custom skin vibes. I think I see what they're going for. Can you further explain the Synergy rip-off/plundering, Awepittance? I just don't know Synergy at all.

Haha, from that side you are right. I totally forgot about winamp (being too long on other players :cat:) but that's a nice comparison!

I don't know where all the hate for the artwork is coming from. I think its great!

I mean aesthetically this is a bullseye. Geeky but unashamed.

Also, interesting that the Gatekeeper threads fires away from the get-go, but my White Car thread withered and died. Not complaining, but White Car are underrated.

yeah not familiar enough with gate keeper, but they sampled a good 30 second chunk unaltered from this song without crediting it. I just htink it's very very strange personally, people like Jack Dangers i think can get away with making clever plunderphonic music since it's very well crafted and continual bombardment of different sample fargments. This just feels like they wanted people to think it was their own sounds. If inside the record it says 'thanks to Synergy' or something i have no problem, if it does not and they are intentionally trying to hide it, i find it slightly unsettling

Yes I read about that too. Uncredited material. I remember a Nurse With Wound LP with a 1 and a half minute long chunk of unaltered John Cage music. Also uncredited but meant as a reference. It's a bit on the edge what they have done. I would credit this or even make a homage out of it.

To step into the defense of Gatekeeper, they hadn't released anything prior and it was just an intro for a limited release 12" of cheesy throwback EBM they made for fun.

I don't think they did it with the intention of becoming a Pitchfork band. Not *great * morally, but not that terrible either all things considered.

Looks like the previews are online.

Far more varied than Giza I reckon.

And the compression doesn't seem so bad (to me anyway).

First two tracks I was really thinking to close the tab but this is getting interesting more and more after a few snippets more (do you mean the preview over at amazon?).

Interesting their left the rougher side of GIZA and went on incorporating some hollow acidlines and a nice overuse of delay (as far as I can judge from the small preview ones).

Definitely something to put on the wantlist especially because it looks like a good package of vinyl plus game.

Well, it is a bit along the lines of earlier OPN sounds which is a good sign in my opinion. Sounds very laidback.

It's their second proper album and really a nice entry into musique concrete and sampledelica. They don't do any similiar audio works like this but I love it.

They are hard to get nowadays. All of their earlier stuff is out of print, a real shame.
