A nice article in the Guardian about this from yesterday:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2012/jul/09/bloc-weekend-2012?newsfeed=true

A link to the blog post I put up on Saturday after realising that I wasn't going to get to watch Squarepusher et al...

Baselogic are calling for feedback from people at the bloc weekend site:

by the by... these are the dates to watch for info on the London Pleasure Gardens:

Africa Stage - 21st July/22nd July

Hypercolour Showcase - 11th August

Carnaval del Pueblo - 18th August

Secret Sundaze - 26th August

The place is fuct. If that many people are going to tramp through there with it raining between it will end up like a bog of despair. I'm not sure who is responsible for the place, but it might actually go down as the one truly horrendous f-up of the olympic legacy.

On 11 July 2012, Baselogic Productions Ltd trading as Bloc voluntarily entered administration. The appointed administrator is Jamie Playford of Parker Andrews Insolvency Practitioners. An investigation into the facts leading to Baselogic Productions and the administration will be conducted immediately by Parker Andrews and a further statement will be issued in due course. Jamie Playford said: “It is important that we understand the full facts including what funds will be available to creditors and ticketholders and to ensure the information we provide about the next stages of administration is clear and concise”.

That is some truly frightening corporate-speak. Which I suppose means all those poor punters are fucked for a refund.

Glad I didn't go. Briefly considered it for the Saturday cause I live five minutes down the road.

Incidentally, LPG was only able to be funded with a huge commercial loan from Newham Council - my local council. Way to spend my taxes you shits. How long before they go bust too?

fuckers! This happened to us at bloom festival a few years ago. They went into administration and the festival was cancelled a couple of days before it was due to take place. Nobody got any ticket refunds.

my advice to whichever promoters fill the vacuum - Don't use up 90% of the money assigned to paying for the artists on the top 2 or 3 acts.

Ticket price can then be cheaper or you can make more money.*

(* I'm not a business man so I don't know if this would really work :)

this is awful, awful news...more'so because i'm flat broke and need that money bad

from what i've heard you can only ring your bank and stop the full payment to bloc if you've bought your ticket within the last 2weeks or so - I could be wrong...i hope i'm wrong. Guess i'll give it a call 2moro and see.

In terms of getting the money back via creditcard company - according to UK laws (not sure about Irish) its up to 200 days from day of purchase, which is encouraging news - could varry depending on credit card company however

boy-o-boy, they really screwed things up, eh?

Could you not get a refund if you used your credit card?

this is what people are recommending - doing a chargeback immediately. that'll grab the funds back before they ever manage to hit BLOC's accounts and get gobbled up by creditors.

sad. I earmarked Bloc and ATP as two must-see festivals and now they're both in trouble.
