I'm guessing it will top out at around 40-45K at the most - can't see it going higher than that. Typically Kickstarters lose 10% of their backers near the end, so it will be interesting at what this finally finishes at.

My expectations... From the examples from kicktraq it kinda looks like it could make a good prediction after 4 days of running. But to be sure, let's make it a week. So after 7 days I'd put my money on what kicktraq says it's trending towards.

The reason why I think it can really exceed our expectations is that I think we hardly know RDJ's fanbase, IMO. Or, have a bad idea about it, at best. So, despite my original feeling that the most sign ups would be in the first two days, most might actually still to come. Not in terms of sign ups per day, but the total number. A total of 5000+ sign ups wouldn't surprise me, tbh. So there'll be a shitload of money in the end.

And I've got at least one good charity in mind: professionally converting RDJ's vault of DATs to digital files (regardless of being made available). If there's one thing freaking me out at this point (yeah, really), it's the idea that RDJ's collection of personal DATs will be lost purely by being too lazy to convert those old DATs to a format which could survive the test of time. Of course, I've got no idea what I'm talking about as I've got no clue about the state of his collection. But the idea certainly freaks me out.

Yeah, but I am sure Richard, since it's his art, feels differently about it - or might agree with you 100% and has already started doing so.

If he has, we wouldn't need a professional vinyl rip, right? ;D

Don't answer this, btw. I'll be (quite) happy with the music regardless of the source. ...But I'd lie if I'd say I'm not hoping you could make another special deal with gwc/rdj now that this kickstarter is already such a success.
