there is / was a long video on youtube of someone driving through the exclusion zone with a radiation meter. pretty interesting watch, the damage from the earthquake is just unreal, i assume this area in particular was hit even worse than other places?

 

I just want to point out that the majority of the damage is not from the earthquake per se, it's from the tsunami. Japan's building code is insanely good in terms of earthquake resilience, but the tsunami was fucking mental.

The tsunami is also basically why the meltdown at the Daiichi reactor in Fukushima occurred (well that and some basic construction issues).
