IDM & Bass Music Radio Show

autopilot

Recommended Posts

Hey WATMM,

I'm back doing a weekly radio show again on www.sub.fm

This time around I'm heavily focusing on that modern UK "bass music" (115bpm-145bpm) sound, while heavily mixing in the IDM greats of the last 25 years.  You'd be surprise how well classic Warp mixes with the modern stuff, almost as if dance music is just now catching up.  There will also be the occasional jungle/dnb set just because.

The archives are here:

So far I'm 3 episodes in and it's been getting a good reception.  Hoping to get some more live or archive listeners from this site, as I think aesthetically it would really resonate with the folks here.

New episodes air Saturdays.  4-6pm EST, 1-3pm PST, 9-11pm GMT.  Archives usually go up on Sundays.

Cheers!

also you are correct sir, imo the stuff labels like livity sound and ilian tape have been putting out throughout the decade is in the exact same headspace as artificial intelligence era "classic" IDM.

hell yea

here's a mix I did for my radio show on sunday. lots of that hybrid techno sound that is hard to put a name on (leftfield house & techno is what beatport calls it)

Hey thanks for keeping up with it even though I neglected this thread!  Here's the most recent episode:

I spent a huge chunk of my free time in January sorting through my digital collection of the last 30 years of electronic music and fishing out my favorite old beats (IDM & otherwise), so there'll be a lot more of that kind of stuff going forward.  Not even close to finished, either, For example, I haven't even delved into the hours of classic Aphex & Amon Tobin yet.  I try to add 10-20 new songs to the crate from the archive each week.  I'm also still trying to keep up with the freshness coming out of the UK and buying the latest outputs from Livity, Timedance, Hessle, & Pearson Sound.

I am pleasantly surprised at how massive the bass/mixdowns are on Prodigy - Fat of the Land.  That album still bumps.  Also Orbital still holds up very, very well and doesn't sound too cheesy/dated.  I finally got all my post-2010 drum n bass & jungle (Autonomic, Exit Records) sorted so the next few episodes will probably feature a bunch of that.

Much love & thanks for continuing to listen!  I'll do my best to keep the mixing and selection as high quality as possible!
