the release says this is a companion disc to Autoimmune, but i have a suspicion it was meant to be the 2nd disc, and Metropolis bailed on financing the extra cost. more analog ambience akin to Forbidden Planet Explored or Electronic Music From Tapelab.

U.S. "Hollows": A1 The Hollows A2 By Torpedo or Crohn's (Dntel remix) B1 Xiu Xiu: "Yoyo Bye Bye" B2 Half-Handed Cloud: "Pre-teen Apocalyptic Film Acting (Medley)" European "Hollows": A1 The Hollows A2 Good Friday (Boards of Canada remix) B1 Dump: "Yoyo Bye Bye" B2 Islands: "Broken Crow" source: http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/article/news...n-why-on-single elephant eyelash is still a favorite of the past few years and the best anticon release ever in my opinion. cannot wait for the new album which is called 'Alopecia' and drops March 11. seems very odd that europe gets a BOC remix and the US get DNTEL instead. but i guess we sh…

Apparently this album is an ode to John DeLorean (The obligatory pitchfork wank can be read here). Well done 80s nostalgia - great party record!

Finally, at long last, the Exercises In Obscurism compilation is here! Our first-ever compilation at SSR, boasting impressive pieces by Ourson, The Caretaker, Heptangular, Seht, Adam Pacione, Ophibre, Eluder, The White Star Line, Dan Crall and our very own Brian Grainger and David Tagg. A curious museum of sound-design and evocative experimental music that works effectively to define the Obscurist ethos, with beautiful photography by Jason Adams. This compilation works more like an album rather than a collection of tracks by different people, suffusing together the academic approach of obscuring all sounds beyond recognition with each artist's own interpretation of what t…

Everyone knows The Caretaker as none other than the legendary James Kirby, the man behind V/Vm and the V/Vm Test label, purveyor of fine experimental, ambient, noise, new-beat music and a veritable authority on the subject. We're lucky to now have him in the ranks at Install with an evocative full-length called Persistent Repetition Of Phrases. This album is in many ways faithful to the classic Caretaker sound as well as being somewhat of a newer experiment; the aged, crusty vinyl of years-long-forgotten is still quite present, however this time things have broken down even further in lock-groove purgatory where flickering loops and shards of melodies are all that's left …

Matmos - Supreme Balloon 1 2
by Guest Alfred E. Neuman- 44 replies
- 5.9k views
The description of this album excites me: The new album from Matmos finds the dynamic duo taking a holiday from conceptual responsibility, skipping the outré sampling antics in favor of a lighthearted “cosmic pop” record made entirely out of synthesizers. Leave it to Matmos to invent a hard and fast rule that they have to follow even when they’re just having fun: the creative restriction this time around is that “Supreme Balloon” is an ALL synthesizer album and no microphones were used at any point. That’s right, no household objects played in a percussive manner, no snails or blood or amplified semen, no acoustic instruments, no voices of famous people for five seco…

been a fan of these two ever since Out Loud came out 10 years ago. they've gone in a more traditional rock direction now, but still using electronics and nice harmonics.

DP finally get around to releasing their film on blu-ray & DVD in the US on July 22nd, with a collector's edition tin box available. not much to look at, but synch it up with the Human After All album, and see the magic.

Hillage & Co. are back on the ambient/trance tip, with the trademark guitar noodling thrown it. the video for Hinotori on iTunes is pretty sweet.

The Black Dog - Radio Scarecrow
by Guest ~ism- 21 replies

Currently listening to the long-awaited tBd album, out on Soma - Radio Scarecrow. Only half way through as I bash this out, but initial signs are good. I know there's mixed love on here these days for the Black Dog project but for me, this has been an eagerly awaited release and glad it sounds all good so far. Nice tonic to having Quaristice on repeat for the past week or so. Official release date is 7th April I believe, worth looking out for nearer the time.
