Football (Soccer) Discussion
Many here on WATMM enjoy "the beautiful game", so much so that a subforum for match discussions makes sense. Keep it on topic, otherwise there's a booking in your future.

VS N-power League 1 - London Road Stadium - 7.45 Ko - Sky sports 2 (2HD) thats right AFCB Vs Peterborough Live on skysports2.. as a supporter of a league 1 side, i always like to tell peopel who support big teams to come and watch AFCB play. its no barca.. but its rock solid (sometimes) hard football. last time we played the posh.. we stuck 5 past them (pittman hatrick) now we dont have him or eddie howe, or josh mcquoid. forms a bit dodgy for afcb right now.. only 1 point out of 4 of our last games (from 2nd with a 6 point lead to 6th with a 5 point lead from dropping outside the playoffs) so its a much win game for us.. (our TV record isnt …

I've just been reading about the recent exploits of the brilliant Brazilian, and former Barcelona star, Rivaldo. I couldn't find any mention of this on here so thought I'd start a thread although you may all have heard about this. Anyway, having retired as a player he returned to Brazil last year and became president of his old Club. A few weeks ago he decided to come out of retirement and sign himself as a player, including getting photos photoshopped of him giving himself a contract, gurning, etc. Then, to make things even weirder, he's loaned himself to Sao Paulo, for whom he then scored with a lovely finish on his debut. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8…

"Back in 2006, when Steve McClaren left Middlesbrough to begin his ill-fated stint as England manager, a 25-year-old armed with vast experience in the highly addictive and cripplingly detailed Football Manager video game and a brief spell in charge of a real-life Under-11 team decided to apply for the vacant position." http://sports.yahoo.com/soccer/blog/dirty-tackle/post/When-a-Football-Manager-player-applied-for-the-M?urn=sow-325075

up until the end of last years season my brother was a member of the team brisbane roar, and whenever he could went down to the games for which he held a season pass. He would tell me of decision after decision from the refs that were completely contrary to the reality of the game he was watching. Now my brother is of a logical bent not a partisan creed. Anyway, so after years of this ref. abuse in favour of the southern teams. He gave up on his membership, and so did an huge proportion of everyone else that were turning up for games. So this year, the league realising that they were facing ruin in queensland, decided to let the brisbane team win every fucking game. …

this is toss Then again a game of 'football' which is merely politics should be. I like how the referee is a teacher of religious studies. You have to wonder if it's real.

Hey , why don't we do like a head-to-head type of fantasy league for the second half of the season. (like a secondary league to the main classic fantasy league , i think it could be more fun) Here is the code: 58002-461802

Live on SKY SPORTS why is this important you may ask? ''Promotion-chasing Bournemouth travel to Colchester United tonight knowing that a victory will put them second in League One. The Cherries are currently in third place on 39 points, but by picking up their 12th win of the season they will leapfrog Southampton into second spot, just one point behind leaders Brighton. The hosts, Colchester, are lying in 12th spot and will have their work cut out if they are to pick up their eighth win of the campaign. Colchester’s last league encounter saw them crash to a 4-2 defeat at Leyton Orient on January 3, while Bournemouth’s last league game on January 8 saw …

So I've just got back from a mini-break to Barcelona, and was fortunate to catch a game at the Camp Nou. When we first planned the break I realised that coming back on Sunday meant I would probably miss any home match, but fortunately it was a Saturday (10pm!) KO, so me and my mate picked up tickets. 70 euros got us 2nd row on the third tier and the view was excellent (far superior to the new Wembley and parts of Old Trafford). The Camp Nou is an incredible stadium, it's definitely a must visit for football fans. We didn't bother with the tour but apparently that's good too. Barcelona lined up with 433 style formation, and it was very different from any 433/451 fo…

New Manchester city striker Edin Džeko is being painted by the English media as "one of the best strikers in the world" , Blue Mancunians are having a "14-year-old girl" moment over the signing , they believe with Dzeko in the squad, Man City will win the league. I do not blame them , just look at his stats , very good indeed. As a avid bundesliga watcher i have watched this player (unlike 80 percent of the English raving about him) , and i know his style of play , and i know the players around him , and i am 90 percent sure Edin Dzenko will be shit in a Man city shirt (and will sink Man City into Europa League positions) Why? - The Wolfsburg championship-winni…

Is anyone playing this? Ive been playing Championship Manager since the Amiga and this has got to be the best one yet, after a couple of shit years when the match engine was introduced. Im cant bring myself to play the next game, as its in the cup against Man U who sit 9th and Alex is about to get sacked and if I beat them chances are he loses his job, the sense of excitment I have about this is giving me stress I dont normally get in my real life (I remember being stressed in 1999, when some money I was expecting didnt come and I couldnt pay the rent, thats about it really). I got a feeling my new signing Abel Taarabt is going to win it for me, he always comes good when…
