  1. Straight up dancefloor electro from Late Night Approach on the ever-dependable Mechatronica. Recommended.
  2. Cool melodic electro contrasted with thumping techno and acid trax from a Latvian label I've been following for years - they've released exceptionally good electro in their vinyl only series. Recommended.
  3. A fresh 20-year celebration remaster of a classic ambient/drone/synth/IDM album, originally released on Mille Plateaux in 2001. Highly recommended.
  4. Not too keen on the original pop-house version of the track, but Ectomorph, Finlow, and Versalife on remix duty bring this release up to recommendation.
  5. Dark, distorted, bass heavy downtempo halfstep/breaks from Future Materials w/ a crushing Scorn remix. Recommended.

    ACID

A compilation celebrating a decade of Acid Test with a roster of top shelf artists like Tin Man, VC-118a, TM-404, John Tejada, Wata Igarashi, Donato Dozzy, and Skudge delivering their best. Highly recommended.
  7. Smoldering two-tracker from two of my favourite Iberian techno producers, OMG ZERG RUSH. Highly recommended.
  8. Rather Aphexy album from Kieran Warren, marking his second release on Cold Blow (the first is Cithare) - the tracks on both releases are from 1990-1994, but they're worth your while. Highly recommended.
  9. Beautiful, relaxed, melodic, and electro infused IDM very much from the FireScope category of sound. PWYW, recommended.
  10. The first release on Romanian label Eufonic, available in digital from Beltran himself. Recommended.
  11. I've had Bioelectric on my Bandcamp wishlist for a long time, thank you for the push to get all three releases. Listening in chronological order - Lakks, Bioelectric, Past Patterns.
  12. Legendary psychologist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi dies at 87 (Boing Boing) If you've ever been "in the zone", experiencing what is known as flow state - Csikszentmihalyi came up with the idea.
  13. These are a bit challenging to read, but it's very obvious that "don't be evil" is what Google isn't.
  14. The MacGuffins, plot inconsistencies/unmotivated actions and tropes you describe are exactly what my SO and I discussed last night - there's just so much that simply doesn't make sense - it's not jumping the shark, but a lot of weird choices anyone with half a brain will notice. There's this one more thing: If you switch off the analytical mode it decent enough, but I'm hankering for a second viewing just to try and see if the holes are as agape as they seemed to be.
  15. Suspension of disbelief is always an option, although we (my SO and I) had a discussion last night about the inconsistencies, too.
  16. A new Planet 17 sublabel, featuring the first release of Keith Farrugia aka Sound Synthesis as Acid Synthesis: sweeping, atmospheric acid cuts. Vinyl only, highly recommended.
  17. I miss everything - and nothing - on streaming platforms because I'm not on them.
  18. In internal messages, Facebook staff faulted company over Jan. 6 insurrection (Fortune)
  19. The original Cowboy Bebop series just came to Netflix, it's been yonks since I've seen it, so rewatching. Squid Game was nice enough, but nothing really special - I understand why it's popular. Starting on S2 of Locke & Key; started on Another Life S2, Midnight Mass, and Sisyphus. Finished a second round of the original Neon Genesis Evangelion series, watched The End of Evangelion and Evangelion Death (True)2; binged through the Evangelion remake 1.11, 2.22, 3.33, and 3.0+1.01 on Prime Video - I didn't think the remakes are bad, they're... different. Not as carefully constructed or subtle as the original series, but not utter crap either - but I'm a nerd, so I'll get into almost any anime with ease - YMMV. Looking forward to the Wheel of Time on Prime. I've been lagging behind on Billions, should catch up on S5. HBO Nordic will turn to HBO Max next week, so there's going to an influx of things to watch, including Dune (I think), so I'm looking forward to a replay (or three).
  20. Just came back from watching No Time To Die. I've liked Craig's Bond the best, and if you're into what he gets out of the character, you'll like his finale, too - making Bond more humane, emotional, and sentimental, even - but it's still a 007 movie through and through, so don't expect anything too complicated or labyrinthine twists in the plot. It's an entertaining enough way to whittle away almost three hours.
