  1. Alco Official BOC Theory (TM) i suspect the brothers have utilized DNA tracking technology (e.g., 23 and me) to discover further brothers who are being trained in BOC studio techniques. some of these brothers were too young at first and years were needed to raise and train them in the THS environment. the next album will feature several hitherto unknown brothers.
  2. this is more Alco Trigger Point stuff. YLC making poor definitions, constantly asserting "in the future it will be like this," side-stepping all criticism with "we already have problems." weak shit.
  3. yeah. for sure one of the greatest of all time. it's really unbelievable
  4. Alco Original "True Story Series" (TM) when this came out i was a teenager living in a suburb of chicago (united states). for a while it was only available as an import, the cd in the frosted jewel case with the secret rewind track. somehow, my friend got a hold of this before me and he revealed it one night when we were hanging out in his bedroom (not sexual). we were both really into "the chre" at this point, like deep into these brothers. so he had me put on headphones and i crouched down underneath his desk (idk why, we were always doing weird shit like this) and he played me the first track without telling me what it was. no joke but this was such a serious experience, it truly was hearing something so unlike anything i'd ever even dreamed of. instantly i knew it was autechre. but it was really next level shit. obviously they were always doing this with each release multiple times a year back then. so anyway later on we were over by the mall in this horrible area of strip malls and terrible restaurants and stuff (like Chilis or whatever) and we were sitting by this little man-made pond area between the parking lot and the road where cars were flying by at like 65mph. we had just stolen some john coltrane cds from the nearby cd store, the name of which escapes me but it's on the tip of my tongue here. it wasn't Crow's Nest or Sam Goody but something kinda similar chain. anyway, my friend says if i jump into the water fully clothed and swim to the other side he will give me the ep7 cd. surprisingly, i did NOT do it. the two of us were always doing dumb stuff like this and i had previously even swam a lap in our school swimming pool fully clothed in a suit and tie in the middle of a swim class. but here i hesitated. i look back on this decision with regret even to this day. shortly after, the domestic version hit the local stores (thanks trent!) and i got a copy from best buy. it did not have the frosted case nor the hidden track. for years i was haunted by my failure to rise to the challenge and obtain the coveted Import Version. *i remembered the cd store: Coconuts!
  5. kinda feel like we need sean (Autechre Brother 1/2) to weigh in on this topic for us
  6. lmaoooo @deebee excellent selection m9. got me on a little bochum welt side quest rn
  7. chatgpt: "...actually that's not earth those are chicken nuggets" me: "incredible, this is superhuman."
  8. if this moves to trial i offer my legal assistance pro bono
  9. idk man, i think it's been years since the heckman has done something really good. to me his work has become a lot more sterile over time, just kind of...bland. an example of this from the newest album is "winter cop." just comes across as really flat, bloodless, generic. something that came to mind while i listened is BOC's "sundown." obviously similar basic deal - some cool cords with big verb. the boc track is so evocative, it draws you in, envelopes you. the chord choices are very cool and provoke unique emotional contours. the synth patch is so well done. in contrast the hecker just...sits there. it feels superficial, does not go beyond. it feels like soundtrack music, but not in a good way.
  10. what if we start calling it Gay I, and the republicans ban it??
  11. i don’t think we can so easily ignore the Alco Trigger Points (ATP) bc this hyperbolic language is how the tech is being sold to us, i.e., in such a way that we are enchanted by new technology that will ultimately just be used like any other: for domination by the ruling class. sadly, we live in a society where a dipshit tech bro from stanford can eat an edible, come up with a worthless idea that all-powerful AI can improve laws by making them “more complex,” receive billions in funding, government green-lighting (maybe he buys clarence thomas a nice treat), and lo!, now you’re in prison for 6.3.5.67 months bc you’re Law App (tm) tracked your every move and found you to be in violation AIL77B-7 for saying “fuck Bezos” in front of your Alexa.
  12. tbh it’s tempting to see this as the natural outcome of an educational system that prioritizes memorization over learning and a society which denigrates “the humanities” as a bunch of irrelevant, unprofitable emo shit. you end up with a tech industry saying their search engine is a brain and it’s the most powerful intelligence ever created. bc it stores all the stuff from online.
  13. why would feeding a machine a bunch of data from the internet produce intelligence, autonomy, consciousness, etc.? what does it mean to say a machine can "do anything in the domain of information?" what does it mean to say something like chatgpt is a "brain," and is this terminology appropriate or meaningful? i think there's a tremendous amount of fluff and bullshit coming out of the tech world about this. a lot of it seems founded on the premise that a brain is just a computer, knowledge is just data collection, and intelligence is just organizing this data. and here data is just whatever...from the internet? come on. the hype is constantly saying humans are dumb compared to a computer, bc a computer stores more website data. seems incredibly stupid, to me. i'm not sure if anyone itt has messed with chatgpt but when you "test" it on subjects you're very familiar with, it consistently demonstrates that it is bordering on completely useless. constantly churning out gibberish, bullshit, disorganized information, absurd inaccuracy, etc. it doesn't even have the "intelligence" to simply say "lmao idk." it's a massive search engine designed to provide results in the form of "answering a question." i'm highly skeptical this will produce anything outside of massively destroying our minds with misinformation and being used by the ruling class to dominate and oppress society.
  14. after the many years of the xerrox project i must say vol. 1 is the only one that is essential for me. not trying to derail the live updates here, just sharing my thoughts
  15. sorry, didn’t mean to be rude to you. we’ve had this debate throughout the thread so all I can say about this specific aspect is that I have loads of cassettes of music I made in my teens and early 20s. I only ever have this to friends. if somehow I became very successful I would absolutely never want that stuff released. for various reasons. seems normal.
  16. sorry they hurt you id be interested in hearing some unreleased tunes but imo I don’t really care to have Official releases of AFOT, OTv2, R35T. boc maxima. Those have existed so long as digital bootlegs that to me, that’s just what they are for us. I’m fine with that. would love to hear stuff like the acoustic MHTRTC and the numerous full albums worth of stuff they’ve hinted at for sure but I’m not mad about it
  17. they apparently said a project was “quite likely” over 20 years ago…uh ok? since august of 2001 have they released any new albums or eps or anything?
