In the metaverse, consumers use augmented and virtual reality technology to digitally engage with each other and their surroundings, with crossovers into the physical world.

next NFT: put yourself on the blockchain with an ID tattooed onto your forehead, anyone can deposit ethereum into your address and immediately summon you to work wage labor for them, adherence is final and absolute, hours are unlimited

LONDON, Feb 11 (Reuters) - The platform which sold an NFT of Jack Dorsey's first tweet for $2.9 million has halted most transactions because people were selling tokens of content that did not belong to them, its founder said, calling this a "fundamental problem" in the fast-growing digital assets market.

Sales of NFTs, or non-fungible tokens, soared to around $25 billion in 2021, leaving many baffled as to why so much money is being spent on items that do not physically exist and which anyone can view online for free.

Reports of scams, counterfeits and "wash trading" have become commonplace.

finally got around to watching the whole thing. never thought I'd so pleasantly endure a talking head for over 2 hours. very thorough. but pretty depressing, considering that some variation of this reality he so eloquently rebukes is most definitely taking place as we speak, even if not like to the extent the evangelists preach. as hard as it might be to build up the proper arguments to tackle this whole conundrum, it's just easy to fall for the trap of criticising it simply for being trash (rightfully so), but the fact is, when there's so much potential for status quo maintenance behind something, it would probably be more productive to find ways of participating and making it better (not to say hijacking it, that'd be naive) instead of taking the old "they took er jebs" stance

I do believe blockchain technologies are pretty great, but this kind fo shit is just capitalism thriving and the people deluded to think this is "good" because "le web3" are fucking idiots and part of the problem.

Snoop and all of these other rappers achieved legendary cultural status, household names and most people don't even remember where they come from anymore. but it is what it is, they made it by being hustlers and bragging about it. so it's only natural they'll keep on doing it in whatever new medium comes up. the irony is, the ones who were once bewildered by their drug slinging tales now run the risk of being the targeted drug fiends, and the new drug is legal. pretty ingenious, tbh

How the fuck is that crappy rock drawing $1 million?

because "ether rock was one of the first crypto collectible NFT-type projects on the ethereum blockchain having launched shortly after cryptopunks. only 100 rocks can ever be available, and each new virgin rock gets more and more expensive."

The auction for the NFT closed with only seven offers ranging from just 0.0019 Ether to 0.09 ETH, or about $6 to about $280. A far cry from the $48 million sought by the owner.
