So here we are, 99 nominees made the ballot - let the voting begin! Vote for as many as you deem worthy of "Top Album" status.

Unless there are any objections, I'll leave the poll open for 1 week, closing it at the end of next Saturday (14 Jan). Good luck and easy listening :music:

bullion, byetone, wagon christ, lego feet, toro y moi, peaking lights for me.

I don't understand the appeal of the new Machine Drum album. I say this having quite liked Want To 1 2.

me neither, and i'm a huge fan of 'now you know'.

Thanks to everyone who voted thus far, keep em coming in! In retrospect I probably should've made the votes public (unfortunately there's no going back to change it).

Gotta defend Room(s) though, it's just one of those perfect right place/right time things - it's an immensely talented producer's take on the footwork/juke aesthetic (which up to now has been pretty raw and unpolished) that hardly sounds derivative, instead drawing a deft arc to UK garage & bass and resulting in a proper album of ebb, flow, and emotion. To wit:

As if there weren't enough reasons to hate on Pitchfork, they initially shat on it with their review, and instead of admitting the error of their ways decided to big up the Sepalcure album - which is still good, but not to the extent Room(s) is - to save face.

Also, I never knew this preview/teaser track existed until now - good stuff! :music:

The reviewer kind of apologized, he admitted he ranked it too low in the Sepalcure http://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/16062-sepalcure/ I've never seen that before on pitchfork.

Stewart hops genres as Machinedrum, whose footwork-fusion album Room(s) is widely regarded as one of the year's best dance releases (I regret underrating its idiosyncrasies).

Guest MortstoX

I just realised that I've only heard 19 of these albums. I'm gonna try to get through half the list before saturday.

Shabazz Palaces gained like 100 points for me after CJM told me that its Butterfly's project. All I had was mp3s and I didn't read any articles about SP, so I never made the connection!

A lot of expecteds up there so far as well as a few surprises: didn't realize watmm was that keen on Mind Bokeh, thought Rustie would be rating higher with all the fuss around his glass phalluses, and Alva Noto is up there (after barely getting nominated).

Also, is the Dave Monolith album actually that good or is it just buoyed by the OMGmoarRephlexIDMz vote?

Remember to get your votes in by end of day Saturday if you haven't already
