Meat Beat Manifesto - Subliminal Sandwich

Been an iffy week health wise, so I'm back at my stack of discs now to fulfill this request. These are the b-sides and versions that Jack did during the Subliminal Sandwich sessions at Black Lab, Mill Valley. I'm not including the various singles and 12" releases, as they're pretty easy to look up on discogs, but this is a loose timeline of releases. I met Jack on the Satyricon tour both in Fall 1992, and Spring 1993, and by that time, Jack said he was still moving his stuff, and hadn't really set up the studio yet to record. The first track from the Sammich sessions surfaced in Fall 1994, on the Survival 2000 compilation. I'm going by memory here, so if Lopez or someone finds a mistake or I missed one, I'll fix it.

Simulacra Part 2 - V/A Survival 2000 (1994)

Simulacra Part 1 - V/A Trans Atlantic (1995)

Future Worlds (Alternative Version) - V/A Volume 16 (1996)

She's Unreal (Alternative Mix 3) - V/A Plastic Compilation Volume 01 (1997)

We Done It Again - V/A In Defense of Animals 2 (1996)

I Control (Audio Collage #2) - First released on a Wax Trax! promo cassette, then on the "Offbeat" compilation, and finally on the "It's The Music" UK single

I Control (Audio Collage #3) [Skylab Remix] - V/A Offbeat. The Red Hot Remixes (1996)

Electric People (Jack Dangers Remix) - V/A FMCD June 1996

Eclectic People - V/A Hot Wheels: Turbo Racer (Original Game Soundtrack) (1999)

*There is also the mythical 1-4 hour mix of Electric People that Jack says they recorded during these sessions, probably while they were blazed and just jammed until they got tired

This is an adjacent piece of the Subliminal Sandwich story; Jack produced the full length debut of Emergency Broadcast Network in 1995, a full year before SS. As this album was on TVT Records, I would assume Jack got the gig either directly through Trent Reznor, or possibly John Malm and his team. Moving to Mill Valley wasn't cheap, so I'd guess this album helped.

That is an altogether much underappreciated album, as well as their brilliant video work on Commercial Entertainment Product, which actually predates the Telecommunication Breakdown album by three years. Both extremely highly recommended.
