Your favorite Oversteps moment(s)? 1 2
by Guest- 31 replies

Achtung, Achtung! do you have already have your favourite moment(s) on Oversteps? I mean moments, the opposite of Gesamtkunstwerking ;) Which one(s) is it and why? Mine: os veix3 --> [1:36-2:05] It's the change in pitch which shows me they can make music/melody. And the Second bad Vilbel like noise is very welcome here and in very good doses.

Sounds more like boards of canada that previous autechre. Not a bad thing just an observation. Particularly "ilanders" the melody on "known(1)" the chords on "pt2ph8" tracks 6 to 10 have BoC all over it especially "os veix3" You feel me? But it another way... all those BoC "hippyish" youtube videos would work well with oversteps tracks.... not the autchre "future/abstract" vids thoughts?

As in each song gets its own cover. The covers step through each song. Idk exactly. Thought it was a cool idea though. A loop hole thing i suppose.

An ambling cover of Dael for faux steel guitar. I did this 5 years ago... I share it with the world (or at least this forum) today in benevolent celebration of the release of Oversteps. Dael.mp3

Has anyone here actually listened to this whole thing with headphones on? (I haven't) What if the new album was this spread out over 14 tracks?

Upload Album Art, please
by Guest- 10 replies

Hi, I downloaded the WAV files at Bleep. It's simply Wave files in a zip package. No album art. I think WARP distributed mp3s with embedded jpegs again: Could someone please upload them? Having listened to Oversteps now a couple of times, it receives a 3/10 from me. And no this is not trolling, but being disappointed. I'm mostly bored, but will write my conclusion more detailed soon. Lack of complexity mostly. This is not Ae for me. It's like only one of the guys spent just a few time on creating this album. Knob fiddling, not much music. Ae was my biggest love in IDM, but today I think their end has come. cu

So Bleep informs me the album has been released digitally a month early. I'm normally a CD buyin' guy, but faced with the prospect of buying the album in lossless format right now, I don't think I can really wait. Now, you can choose 24 bit or 16 bit files. I may be alone in this, we'll see, but even when I've got these files, I'm gonna burn them to a CD. There's a bunch of reasons - I like listening to whole albums, my good stereo is not near my computer, etc. Thing is, you can't burn 24 bit files to a CD anyway. If I run 10 metres of RCA cable from my computer to my stereo, by the time the 24 bit music's been out my computer's workmanlike d/a converters, alo…

Just DL'd Oversteps from Bleep.com....No album artwork. U'd think for 9.99 I would've earned some. Even if it is just a big black dot. Also, most of these tracks are undercase. I capitalize EVERY word in my music folder (195 gigs). I feel weird renaming someone else's art. But it's proper for a title.... WTF ever.. Sick album.. Come to America!

I got inspired by reading a list in the Oversteps thread and think it would be an interesting thing to do. It would pretty effectively display everyone's bias and show if people really do think Confield is the best/worst... Obviously at this point including Oversteps is sort of a funny thing to do but we can just use our own best judgment on that one... I'm not including EPs/promos/mixes etc in my list but by all means throw em in if you feel the love 1. Draft 7.30 2. Quaristice 3. Untilted 4. Confield 5. ae3o 6. h3ae 7. Oversteps 8. Chiastic Slide 9. Tri Repeatae 10. LP5

The strings on Pen Expers.

Right, having re listened to Tri Repetae yesterday and being really impressed by the way, I noticed the strings on Leterel (I think its that one anyway) are somewhat similar to the strings on Pen Expers, if you can picture reversing the strings in Leterel espically. Has anyone spotted this before, or am I chatting tuna?

like, might be useful to have a place where the right stores are aggregated for the 2010 tour, we don't want unhappy people who can't find tickets do we? April 1 Berlin, Germany, Berghain: eventim.de and koka36.de (bit cheaper but i dunno about shipping etc..)

When you guys are slowing down on the music making, you should write a book. I'm not talking any old book here, I'm thinking it should be a huge book, about 1400 pages, and the cover should be that woven fabric type of stuff they put on really academic looking books. The cover should have AE printed in the same way as on the cover of Gantz Graf, but right in the center. I don't really care about the colour, surprise me. The book should have no title, and the fans will refer to it as the "Autechre Tome". The book should be divided into two parts: The first part should detail your releases, with the first several pages for each release containing full page prints of the…

Anyone know if there are people selling these tickets?
Last reply by Soloman Tump, -
does anyone else absolutely love this track? over the course of the last week while listening to this album on heavy rotation, i find myself sometimes zoning out after treale completes, and stay sort of entranced all the way to yuop. i get drawn back in by that soft bouncy bass that starts the track out. they sure know how to end it in style. everytime i hear this i think about machinery, like a multi-layered cog on a vertical axis that has, on every layer, a different amount of gears that dictate multiple levels of rotational motion. sort of like the inside of a combination lock, but on a much larger scale. it feels like the first few notes in every phrase are slow…
