So there was a joyful dull thud on the doormat this morning as Oversteps in it's physical CD form landed. There was also a letter from the taxman so a bittersweet delivery from the postie. Anyway, as I carefully open the package from Bleep it appears all is not well and as I open the folds on the digipack the disc drops straight into my hands as the plastic holder is not capable of holding a fart, smashed to smitherooooons. Oh nice! Bleep have been notified and I await a response but not sure what they'll do, fingers crossed for a replacement. That aside, saw AE in the Leeds the other night and they absolutely smashed it! I've seen them seven times now and this i…

Russell haswell was super super shite (I was doing better twiddling _one_ knob on my MC 303 back in the 90s). He even had the audacity to be selling a £20 exclusive CD on the night. Ae put on a blinder though, approaching the Tin Pin Alley Tri Repetae tour gig. Enjoyed it loads.

(More info tomorrow, its been a long weekend and I need sleep....) Had a great time at bloc this weekend, caught flying lotus who was on before rob hall, thought his set was good he looked like he was enjoying himself. Russell Haswell (*EDIT apparently not him*) played a predominantly hip-hop set and bored the shit out of me, didnt want to lose my place on the dance floor though. Found a sweet spot to the funktion 1 stacks, centre stage.... mind blowingly loud, very glad I had my earplugs. So all the lights cut out, Autechre came on, and destroyed the place. I thought their set was very brutal. I did not recognise any of the music (think they played for about 80 …

Autechre One more take on their name..

They say they had a track with an "au" sound and then randomly bashed the rest out on a keyboard. Some say its a combination of the words audio and architecture. I like to think of autechre as the "Awe Takers". The more we listen the more amazed and filled with awe we are. Awe that rob and sean take from us. Lame but i though it should be thrown out there with the rest of em.

Scorn "Twitcher" beefed up even more so by the awesome Phylyps Trak. When those nasty hi-hats kick in all hell breaks loose. Awesome, awesome stuff :)

Autechre Autechre credited in Metroid Prime?

I just beat Metroid Prime for like the 10th time and I noticed Sean Booth and Rob Brown were credited in the special thanks list. Here is the proof: Does anybody know how involved they are with this game? All I can think of is one of the songs that sounds a bit like Autechre. Here is a sample of it: http://www.sound-test.org/soundtracks/metr...ater%20Core.mp3 The game came out in late 2002, so I think this very song could have been produced during the Confield/Draft 7.30 era, perhaps.

so...I didn´t want to spend whole thread on this one but since it´s the third day that there is no one but Syssyphus in the WATMM Chatroom I made it... the question is: ...Autechre are playing ( or already played) in Prague(CZ) this year and there are rumours flying around that they use MC during their performance... other rumour is that there is some MC right on the ´´Oversteps´´ album... ...sincew there´s no way I can get Oversteps in this country without knowing anyone can someone reply with any info/opinion on this? ...thanksalot...

Autechre "in the middle, somewhat elevated"
by Guest bardamu- 3 replies

just got back from the sf ballet's performance of "in the middle, somewhat elevated." its a pretty amazing piece of modern dance with an avante-garde electronic score from the mid 80s. It reminded me a lot of anvil vapre, with a few textural touches of confield. highly highly recommended; its playing saturday and sunday in SF. let me know if any local bay area people are going... i might just go again. the accompanying performance of stravinsky's petrouchka was also amazing, but thats another story ;) also, why the hell hasn't autechre been used by any modern dance troupes yet?

This is rapidly becoming the new Parhelic Triangle. It's dirtier than a crow's beak and I think I am addicted to that snare that pops up out of darkness every now and again Question is, is it a thwack?

Have read reviews/comments around the net now about 3 or 4 times describing "Ilanders" as their nod to Dubstep. I seriously don't see it. It's not as if it's the first time they've used that bass sound (clipper is almost 15 years old now).....and the rhythms are just as glitchy and autechre as ever. Does anyone agree that it sounds like some people are just hearing what they want to hear in the tune, or can someone point out to my where the dubstep connection is??

i started last night and was gonna try to pull a marathon since i was banned from the .ws broadcast but i got tired and lonesome today i picked it back up, will probably finish on friday but i didn't include the hafler trio collabs because you're not the boss of me i'm on teartear from amber right now... i have done this before when i worked long shifts at night but it's time for a refresher course only interesting thing i have learned so far is that i am starting to realize why many prefer later-era ae... inc. used to be my favorite i still love it but its appeal is waning as i have been focusing on confield and afterwards recently... those albums are the mad notes

ok so like a few others, i completely held out until the official release. reading that megathread from when it was leaked has been entertaining to say the least. i started to form an opinion of this album and i still hadn't heard it. much to my delight, a lot of what i read, i totally disagree with. first, the artwork. i totally see why tdr did this enso thing. there is a lot of asian sounding zen moments in here. the whole album feels like one unit and very zen-like. in no way ever did i see the shiny plastic full neon cover of that squarepusher record at all. this feels very organic and oozing with personality. something they seem to keep very well guarded. i h…
