  1. Surely it’s reference to a PlayStation controller as these are the albums made on Music2000 on PS1.... not to be outdone by Richards Novation synth, the boys are working with Sony on a PlayStation pad with a midi port. X4 ??
  2. https://m.imdb.com/title/tt0923985/
  3. Not much to add other than if you have a Korg Nu-Tek (or compatible unit) there is a FM engine from the Mutable Instruments Plaits - MO2 Fm for free over at the Korg site along with other ports. great sounding simple fm engine. A bit like the FM synth on the OP-1. Great having the fix section of the Nu-tek to run it through too.
  4. That is an insane price point when considering the Korg one is so much more. I wonder how this might effect sales of each product. Will people still buy the Korg one for whatever reason? I have some experience with a few of the new Behringer synths - the 808, neutron and Moog clone seem like decent build quality but I was horrified by the tacky plastic quality of the 303 - sound wise they are all decent though IMO Although I don’t really lust after mono synths that much these days I do hope they make a load of Buchla clones - a full Skylab system clone for a grand would certainly get me interested ?
  5. Not in that way. Each sound can be copied over however many keys/notes you want and you need to pitch them accordingly. Like mapping a sampler across keys with multi samples.
  6. Actually now I’m reading it again I think it’s all just new firmware features which will work on the original.
  7. So you’re saying the previews are in the mix somewhere, a sonic treasure hunt.....
  8. No idea why it’s rotated?? Maybe orientated to match my state of mind ?
  9. Fun mastering tip :- Use any track off Syro as a reference and spend eternity trying every single plugin in the world trying to get even remotely close ? I’m all for quick and dirty home mastering though - for that I believe that being gentle with tools is the key. A couple of dB if gain reduction here and there and light touches with eq. Any more is probably best fixed in the mix. It always seems to be discouraged and I agree with many of the obvious points like a ‘proper mastering engineer has better gear’ (duh!) etc but people can learn and improve, buy better stuff etc. A good mix is essential but even basic home mastering ‘should’ sound better than having none applied at all. just mho.
  10. Really sad to hear about your health issues mate. I have to take immunosuppressants too for ulcerative colitis and I’m actually in hospital as I type this having an infusion....obviously my situation isn’t as severe but I know how they can effect you. Just wanted to say that the artwork you did for Fragments is one of my most treasured possessions, even being just 1’s & 0’s. Speedy recovery mate.
  11. I am being serious and I find it curious that you aren’t signed etc - do you gig/DJ or anything like that?? Have you sent off any demos to labels? A friend of mine who has worked at a few labels always said that if you want to be ‘big’ then spend 90% of the time you spend on music on promotion. I always hated the idea and hoped it isn’t the truth but I feel he has a valid point. I can’t imagine a label that releases similar stuff wouldn’t be interested in your output.
  12. Have no fear mate, very enjoyable listen so far. If you are a bit worried obviously focus your gig/performance in the right setting with the correct crowd who either know you or you support a similar act etc. Heckling isn’t nice and I have even seen/heard a couple of times people giving Russel Haswell some unnecessary shit at Autechre gigs! - I know Ae and Haswell are quite different a lot of the time but I would have thought the crowd would have at least been respectful of it even though I appreciate it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. Every time there was some place they could have fucked off to and not listened but they chose to shout etc which I imagine is a bit distracting etc i can imagine chilling listening to you play a set this at a festival and being very happy. may I ask what was the setup? Am I hearing a Red Panda Particle??
  13. Apocalypse Jungle is sweet. old skool vibes with some nice old skool production techniques (the time stretched beat etc) I haven’t listened on proper speakers yet, only on my iPad which struggled obviously with the sub bass. The sound is important to capture the old skool vibe so I can fully understand how and why etc but to cover more of how people listen these days, potentially look at tweaking the mix slightly. It’s not mentioned much now but something like Maxxbass from Waves is good for these kind of things. Mostly now with the modern synths designed specifically to overcome this issue by layering sound etc it’s not such an issue when your bass line covers from like 20hz upto 5k, with loads of squealing midrange cack but simple sub bass can be difficult to translate across to small speakers. I wouldn’t waste your time tweaking it now as the track is good but might be something to think of in the future if you’re doing more stuff like it.
  14. Realising I should give more feedback than just saying that I like it, here goes :- I don’t normally listen to pure ambient, i like rhythms and percussion mostly but a combination of it being nice and sunny here at the time I listened and as I said previously the image you used I find very appealing, so I clicked play. I won’t comment on the actual composition as it’s obvious you know what you’re doing and you are well aware it is a very good piece. Fwiw, I was in a pretty good mood when I listened and I found it very uplifting. I should probably try listening again when I’m a bit angry about something and see how it effects me as the track does have plenty of emotions. Next time someone parks outside my house I will have another listen ? It might be because of video/youtube but I thought it could go louder and still keep the dynamic range ? - Overall the mix sounded good on my hifi which is pretty decent (floor mount speakers & sub) Nice work!
  15. Moon Thoughts track is fabulous, the image on the video is beautiful.
  16. All top notch stuff. Take a bow sir. You should submit your application for a seat on the council of master idm’ers if you haven’t already.
  17. The BBC are showing Bob Ross on BBC4 and it’s been years since I’ve seen it, especially being in the uk. Anyway, it’s the best tv I’ve watched so far for the lockdown ? I had a go myself trying to replicate his ideas with Procreate app on iPad. Tried doing it fast like bob too but was about an hour and a quarter.
  18. Manchester and Birmingham sets from the years.... The Musicbox, Rainbow, Medbar, Wharehouse Project, that place where they film Corrie... Pls I was at all those so would be ace to reminisce. Would cover 2016 too. Also a few new jams, an album and some live sets streamed showing detailed close ups of the process.. Ve must know zee process! (Include patches, software, midi files etc as a download) i got 12 weeks minimum lockdown to get thru due to medicine for my poorly pooper and the bleepstore is one of the only shops I’m allowed to visit. Rob, Sean pls
