  1. MOY is shaping up to a new favourite of mine, Dynamics of Acid is a brilliant acid breaks album and his upcoming releases on his own label and Batrachian are great. Lend them your ears.
  2. The recent passing of Kelli Hand reminded me of her collaborative project/label with Kero, Kerohand. Couldn't find them in digital, so alas, they seem to be vinyl only.
  3. Besides their music, I've always liked the graphic design side of Detroit Underground. I bought this record on vinyl just for the cover, but I'll get the digitals for listening, too. It's a good great record, some of the recent DetUnd output hasn't been this interesting.
  4. I recently ended up browsing Triplicate Records' Bandcamp which might be of interest to some, here are a the available compilations as a taster - all except the latest one (Tapes Vol. 3) are PWYW. Order is chronological from old to new. Recommended.
  5. I have another set of digitals with only the tracks from the vinyl release, and they sound a bit fuller and louder, there's more "meat" than the ones from Nuron's Bandcamp. Here are the waveforms loaded into Audacity: The one on top is Eau Rouge from Nuron's Bandcamp, the bottom one is the same track from another source. It's visually obvious that the Nuron Bandcamp version is thinner and quieter - but I think the main difference is in loudness, not sound quality. I'm not a sound engineer, so I can't tell you more than that - but different mastering targets, maybe? I have listened to these from vinyl countless times, digitally not so much, but vinyl adds frequencies and fullness due to environmental feedback, listening to digital doesn't do that so I would hazard a guess that mastering for digital is done differently from vinyl. But as I said I'm not an audio engineer, someone else might have more insight into this. Or we could just ask Nurmad. On my setup they sound good enough for my ears.
  6. Now that I look at the notification email, it says: so it could (or could not) be that it was a limited issue. But e.g. Mindcolormusic has certain releases available only on Bandcamp Fridays, so it might (or might not) become available again in a month or so. Zero regrets picking up the CD immediately regardless of the price.
  7. Nye's on a roll, another The Elusive Man album. Classic IDM sounds.
  8. Aeon Cub's inaugural album, the tree tasters sound great. Recommended.
  9. I've been in contact with Nuron and he had this to say about the prices and extras: I don't know if this carries over to the tape as well, but I would assume so.
  10. There's also the made-to-order t-shirt, too bad it's white. I've got a few of the earlier ones, some black/greys and the Detromental purple, but I'll pass on this, sweat and/or deodorant spoils white shirts very quickly. I got the USB drive, 32 GB is good for digital DJing.
  11. After 17-odd years I'm still trying to get my SO to understand this - the same goes for books. I have shifted aggressively towards digital, so the shelves are not overflowing at the same pace as they were a few years ago, but there's always piles and stacks, packages and other assorted mailing detritus somewhere.
  12. That's my physical release wantlist - but you'll have to take into account that I've been DJing for about 30 years and I'm, for a want of a better word, a glutton for music. Then again, that 2263 release wantlist one Bandcamp has accumulated only over the past three years, the Discogs one has had almost 20 years. That should give some perspective on the digital release firehose compared to physical. I haven't yet adjusted to the fact that I'm now a father and that I don't have oodles of loose time to filter music as I did before making a small human. Change is difficult, especially to a neurodivergent like me.
  13. Amateurs. That's releases, not single tracks. See also
  14. Bandcamp Friday. Nearly 200 release announcements and messages from labels and artists at this point. Expecting double or more from that. I simply can't keep up today, I'll probably do some surgical selections after I get our progeny unconscious. I need a stricter filter, I've got 2263 releases - not single tracks, releases - on my Bandcamp wantlist. I like music too much and there's too much music to like. With just vinyl things were manageable, even easy - but with digital there's a constant deluge of material to trawl through. It's not just filter failure, it's also input overload.
  15. A new aAirial album with a single track taster - but I, for one, won't be waiting for the full release to buy. Highly recommended.
  16. CD and cassette formats alongside digital, this is the Likemind release with some extras. Highly recommended - albeit very pricey, 30 GBP (+ additinal costs) for a CD or cassette is really a lot. But it's Nuron.
  17. I have this on both CD and vinyl. It's awesome, my favourite track is the CD extra not on vinyl, Poisson Métallique.
  18. Pop history could've been rather different.
  19. Sure, but it's not a sucker price either, when directly compared to the price of the whole series in second-hand (or new) vinyl or a hypothetical triple CD compilation. Yes, we can discuss the merits of liner notes, physical product properties etc. ad nauseam, but to me - a life-long vinyl addict in remission - it's a non-issue. 25 € is the price of two new vinyl releases with an average of 2-5 tracks per record. I also understand that it's a rare someone who has a monthly allowance like mine for music, but my argument stands: I'm not trying to convince a anyone to buy the release or anything else for that matter; when compared to other options of getting that particular music, it's convenient and not that expensive (I'm not taking zero cost piracy into account on purpose). YMWV.
  20. Second compilation out now, for 8 € it's a steal. The Client_03 track is fine as fine can be. Highly recommended.
