  2. Just spotted this one now, but here ya go:
  3. So the talk about L-Event was getting my Autechre groove on and I put on Exai on like 3 times this last 2 days, and it finally clicked just now. What I want to ask is: is it me or does alot of the album from Exai sound like parts of Draft, Confield, Quaristice (mainly Quadrange) and Move Of Ten? T ess xi could've been on Draft or Confield so easily, the beginning of Fleure containing what sounds like samples from Confield... Irlite sounding like a Quadrange edit or something. Weird thing is that I don´t hear much Oversteps vibes in this one at all. Maybe this has been talked to death here already, but can´t be bothered to read 341 pages to find that out. TL;DR - Exai is like Squarepushers Hello Everything, which to me was something of a review of his work until then, a 'best of' consisting of new tracks but with all the signature sounds. edit: ah, seeing the first 2 comments on this page 'confirm' my suspicion:
  4. 'Finally' announced! http://autechre.ws/l-event/

  6. 3 full length's from EOD/CN in one year + a solid EP. That is just madness, and I absolutely love it. Can't wait for this one!
  7. My favorite video this last few days is the artist that opened for Godspeed You! Black Emperor (!!!) last wednesday in Amsterdam. Decide for yourselves. The gig lasted not even 10 minutes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Yb2dqaqxGg
  8. Maybe it'll be released on the next Steinvord release on Rephlex...
  9. Alright, trip down memory lane for me. In the 90's there was this game that you got for free when you returned batteries in correctly, ironically the game was about a battery robot that has to escape a factory to not be drained and destroyed, meanwhile the player has to maintain and recharge his battery. Haven't played the game since '98, but I finally remembered the title, Battery Check. It was only available in the Netherlands, and was produced on the Jazz Jackrabbit 2 engine. The reason I wanted to share this is mainly because of the soundtrack, which is so IDM. Actually, the whole recycle story and the storyline of the game are so IDM to my ears. http://youtu.be/YOMw2Vxpiw4 http://youtu.be/9bf_nJ7POeQ http://youtu.be/gv0drICP7C0 In any case it's ridiculously nostalgic for me.
  10. Nice one! That's Come On My Skeleton for sure! I think that Whispering Giant sample is on Toomorrow, although I'm still too lazy to check which track exactly.
  11. The last 2 Autechre "EP's" lasted from 50 minutes to 2.5 hours, so my guess is at least what normal people describe as "full-length"
  12. Just listening to Exai for the first time in a while and it's finally clicking between us. Then I read this. Good times, if true ofcourse :)
  13. Just heard a very recognizable Vibert sample in a track by Barry Forgie, called Whispering Giant. Listen to it here (last 15 seconds, although the whole song is worth it) http://m.unippm.co.uk/en/Browse/Labels/CD%20Listing/CD%20Details/Track%20Details.aspx?cdId=3274&wId=183482 On which Vibert track is this sampled though?
  14. Cherry 2000, fun saturday latenight rubbish pulp madmax style dystopian movie. For some reason I kept associating Half-Life 2 images to this scenery. 6/10
  15. This. And this (by Morgan Geist): The year is 1979. There's tons of anonymous disco records coming out every week, failing to register a blip on the Billboard charts. And almost every one is more interesting than the Daft Punk snippet that is basically my entire FB feed right now.
  16. Haha wasn't expecting much, but I was too curious. It will never get the seal of approval my avatar shows here as well, and it's not my thing either, but still I try to support them and collect feedback/reviews. Was it the production? Or the style? (To return the favor though, I dó like the new Diskord album very much )
  17. Don't feel like spamming here, but I'm curious to what watmm's opinion is about Dystopia, a black/death/thrash/whatever metal band that I started in 2004, but quit back in 2008/2009. Now they revived with new members and energy and released their first full-length album. http://dystopianl.bandcamp.com/ The latest review: http://www.themetaladvisor.com/2013/03/metal-round-up-wandersword-dystopia.html#more
  18. Can't post these enough: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2GSsFbdIeew And talking about deep house I guess, seeing Theo Parrish live was the best concert experience I have had in my life (or in any case top 3). What a madman. He played for more than 4 hours, totally possessed, never experienced so much raw energy and passion. After that, about 6 am, he preached for 40 minutes like some kind of prophet of true music to the small audience that was still left. Please go see this man if you have the chance.
  19. I need to check that Slipper album out, that track is appropriately named - it and much of the output by the Gentle People always had this strange lounge-y/exotica sound to it that appealed to me. They're still quite overlooked in my view, especially now that the same sound is being channeled by a lot of producers. Yes, alot of Martin Denny and Les Baxter type influences everywhere. It's weird that one of the members of Slipper was the drummer called Rat Scabies in a punk band from the 70's till 1995 called the Damned... Slippers music is so laidback, nice and warm, the absolute opposite. And Gentle People is, together with Luke Vibert, probably the nicest music ever made (and since Luke Vibert remixed a track of the Gentle People, that track must be the epitomy of nice).
  20. I recommend listening to https://intergalactic.fm/# , mainly the second channel (Intergalactic Classix). These guys know their shit. It's the homebase of Legowelt, I-F, Rude 66, etc. I have discovered so, so much good Italo through this station. If you want a preview of what is regular on that station, I suggest one of my favorite mixes, by I-F: http://www.discogs.com/Various-Mixed-Up-In-The-Hague-Vol-1/master/10830 Things like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hKCgxqPWyY4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ayEP0_-mf3U
  21. Fun reading this back, coincidentally I received an old Rephlex 12" yesterday, by Slipper. ( http://www.discogs.com/Slipper-Invisible-Movies/release/54739 ) I only knew that one track (Fascinating) of a compilation, but the rest is really laidback awesome braindance. Rephlex still suprises me with old and new. Still my favorite label.
  22. While I was listening to FTNWO ...agáin... I scrolled through this topic and saw this. First: the 4 tracks sound really, really fresh. How come I have heard NOTHING about this? DJ Stingray releasing a USB in the form of a creditcard on some obscure Italian label? What? ...and ordered.
  23. Why is the latest record on the site a 2010 one? Where the hell is the digital release of this EP? Where are the rest of unreleased Steinvord tracks?? Why they don't update the site? Can anyone ask Grant on Facebook if there will be any future updates? I've kind of lost hope on getting this in digital. I wonder if the label is even active? What kind of label doesn't release a record in 2 years? Well, they did release some music in the last two years. Pierre Bastien, Aleksi Perala, a total of 4 cd's by Jodey Kendrick, Dwayne Omarr, Criminal Minds, Zwischenwelt, Dave Monolith and they have an EOD record coming up. Not quite as active as the old days, but it's hard these days I guess. The website is just like it has always been, an empty deserted desert. The only update they had since the launch end of '09 was the removal of the word "under construction". That is just hilarious. The question that comes to mind when I read that Grant quote is, what record did he mean by "another"? I remember he quickly removed that bit from the announcement on facebook, and when I asked him about it he removed my comment as well.
  24. Totally ripping new album, got the vinyl last week and I'm really enjoying it!
