  1. This reminds me of my ex gf who I took to an Elseq tour concert. At one point she sat on the ground covering her ears saying "This music is a personal attack on me" I laughed with the AFX grin, but deep inside a stark realization crept inside me: she's not the one.
  2. It's been an Exai month for me. I can officially state that I love Exai now. So long, Quaristice, you've been a great sport. Has the artwork of Exai been watmm officially decoded yet?
  3. lol why is my reputation -3 how did I offend anyone, this is my first post since the new software how this works?
  4. brilliant. I want this on my tombstone :) It's a relic of times when all planets were perfectly aligned to create this masterpiece (sorry for the pun). It wouldn't be what it is without H.R.Giger and Ron Cobb. Their respective visions made that film's entire essence that holds and towers every later attempt at the genre (and saga). I watch it today not to get scared, but to indulge myself in the atmosphere, the perfect snippet at the world I wished I knew more about (and leaves me immersed into it long after I watched it). The believable characters that tell their story just by looking at them and the way they are present on the set. They don't seem like actors to me. They are real human beings in the world. Think about Ripley, Ash, Lambert, Dallas, Brett, Kane, Parker and their personas. Now think about every canon fodder character in covenant, prometheus... no substance. I can't even remember their names and I watched both movies many times, because I'm stupid and I think I missed something that never was there to begin with. Alien is minimalist theater. It could as well be shot in three stage scenes and it would still work. And I was shitting my pants when I was a kid watching it. Granted, I was unspoiled because I wasn't bombarded with every half-assed attempt at filmmaking every day, but it was the constructed world and actors that made it believable. And I can say that with confidence because it still takes me away, despite my cynical perfectionism. The last scene, before Ripley escapes into the pod, is still nerve-wrecking today, even though I can safely say that I'm a veteran of movie tricks and slaps now that I'm older. No other horror film captures the essence of the moment better than the self-destruct scene. Imagine being in her place. Sigourney is one of the rare best.
  5. What’s their log retention policy? good question. haven't looked into it
  6. It's kind of blasphemous to name new dinosaur species by current pop culture phenomena. Like this Dracorex Hogwartsia. I might be a boring purist at this point, but that's just degrading, imho http://scienceviews.com/dinosaurs/dracorex.html
  7. since LA and SF are quite the pilgrimage of make-believe american dream from all around the world it's not that surprising really. insane, but not surprising.
  8. what is your point really? that the roman colosseum and the pallatine hill, the acropolis in athens, the ruins of pompeii, delphi, etc have been rebuilt? you surely mean excavated and preserved. the ruins are real, but if you believe someone made those ruins out of plaster to make them look like 2000+ year old ruins you are quite mistaken. or if you believe that ancient cities should still stand intact after 2000+ years of every human and natural force imaginable, you're quite delusional.
  9. sorry to bring up this older post, but that's a good rant. actually, everything he said could apply to our own government atm (and in the last 10 years), word by word. which confirms my thoughts that global and state politics have deteriorated to abysmal levels throughout the world, and that politics ceased to exist. only the stage facade is what remains. corporate and think-tank vampires now rule the halls of once proud palace.
  10. In my effort to keep good relationships with my client, I spoiled them.
  11. I'm in the process of reading the book. It's excellent. Haven't seen the film, but I read somewhere that Kundera said this movie barely even touched the kernel of the story and did not allow and future film adaptations of his novels. I'm still intrigued though. Might take a look.
  12. I used to live right next to the open venue where the infamous Abba musical (Mamma Mia I think it was called) was played. For three years, the entire summer, I listened to rehearsals throughout the day, then to the main show in the evening. It sapped the last ounce of Abba appreciation I had. I don't want to hear another Abba chord. But yeah, I once thought they were quite alright myself.
  13. try Ralph Waldo Emerson, might be even better
  14. @squee; make sure you get good security on that shack
  15. If apple made a car it would not only have no windows, but to look outside one'd have to plug his ipad (sold separately) and pinch and swipe the camera mounted on the roof if there are more than two passengers, additional port extensions can be bought for $299 if you leave the sunroof open during rain and the seats get wet, the apple store would have to change the whole chassis. etc
  16. it's like post your bad ideas for movies and favourite yt videos at once hitting two birds with one stone, this guy is a genius
