VHS Head - Trademark Ribbons of Gold
xyrofen replied to Worlds Most Johnsson's topic in New & Upcoming Releases
You're in for a fun time. yeah, only a couple of memorable songs on POV. i tried really hard to get into the album, but there wasn't enough going on for me. oh well. not the first sophomore album that's disappointed me. I didn't find much of it memorable on the first few listens, but it's grown on me a whole ton, as have his one-off tracks from compilations. Don't Look in the Closet, Gas Human No.1, Red Ocean Apocalypse, and Angels Never Sleep are pretty memorable for me. To be fair, across all his works, a lot of his tracks bleed into memories of others for me, and I think it's a bit endearing at times. -
A trip to the Isle of Eigg on the single sunny summer's day in Scotland would elicit comparable excitement levels. Amiright? welcome to WATMM

Oops. I also usually play through the Portal games around this year for some reason. Been trying to beat the Half Life games for the first time ever though (on episode 2).

Apparently the code on the back of the card I got for preordering it from a local record shop isn't valid on the redemption portal. What? :( -

Woo! I'm sick as shit today, so this was great to see/wake up to. They have new t-shirts too. -
I love Homework and fucking hate Human After All.

Funnily he's the guy from records of whom Burial learnt his vocal chops, if I'm not mistaken. The chops that, needless to say, overruled the popular electronic music world. Edwards sounds like a bum in a limousine compared to Moroder and Rodgers. for real? that is very interesting. he came off as someone who didnt know much as a producer. who doesnt know you multitrack instruments in a studio? i havent played anything since the alto sax in 8th grade marching band* and i knew that. *drunken drum machine and pots and pans jams not withstanding http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CevNiV0BTAE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P48Z5dZkNqk

It's funny that Robot Rock is basically the only good track on that album, since it's the only one built on a sample. Daft Punk was, no doubt, incredibly important in getting me into electronic stuff. So was Eiffel 65 for that matter, hah.

Strom is everything I wanted out of this album based on the samples and it delivers in that realm very nicely. Having not listened to much else by Uwe other than "Wellen und Felder," I'm not sure I had any preconceptions as to what I was expecting. It does have a lot more pop and rock sound to it than any of the samples hinted at whatsoever. I think my only complaint is that it doesn't seem consistent in how the tracks sound, but maybe that's kind of the point. There's probably something for almost anyone on this album in some way. The tracks that pander to my tastes are Strom, Riding the Void, The Sound of Decay, and Ich Bin Meine Maschine.

Yeah, that was always a nice trademark. From the looks of that little 15 second clip, it seems they're keeping it that way, which is great. Bits of this sound a whole lot like an early version of "Around the World."

It feels like this album hasn't been publicized at all. The only two tracks heard in full were somewhat scrounged up on hour+ long mixes. Though the Failme dudes seem to be pretty high up on the relations ladder. I don't know. They did announce this far too early with very little promotion afterwards.

What if tDR did it on purpose and there's shit in Quaristice and Oversteps that we never found? Time to go back.

I'm afraid to take it too. Just looking at it, I was pretty overwhelmed and didn't know where to really place what I thought the eyes were conveying. :(

Here's to it being not Human After All.

Lcc boner in full effect. I had a bit of a crisis earlier and realized I thought Sean was Rob and that Rob was Sean. It was so incredibly emotionally disturbing, then I passed out.

I got a 22 on the Empathy one and a 57 on the Systemizing one. Paired with my 29 on the Autism spectrum one, I don't know. I really like science and math and that's what I'm majoring in at university, so I feel like there's a correlation to that with the systemizing one at least, but don't know/can't say there's a causation in either direction (I like hard sciences because of where I am on the spectrum/I'm at that point on the spectrum because I enjoy hard sciences). I always have had trouble with eye contact though. It makes (and has made) me really uncomfortable since I can remember (late 2, early 3). I agree with this.

I like the way the things in the tracks we've heard so far that are reverbed. It's usually something in the background that seems to groan or creak that let's off a lasting air that slowly fades until another takes its place. I also like how some sounds in the background grow. Those are the things that have reminded me of Oversteps/Move of Ten the most so far and I loved the way it was done (such as in os veix3, Cep puiqMX). Is it okay to make posts where I don't shit on someone/something?
