  1. It's the causing a rift in the party at the worst possible time thing that worries me about AOC. All of the sudden, progressives have this intense hatred for these always imperfect politicians that have actually done a lot for their agenda. I get not liking a lot of these crusty old Dems. I really do. But with that New York Times article I linked above about Dem voters(April 2019, but a bit prescient) and the way the primary ended up, I think we just have to save that pressure for a more cooperative president while they're in office rather than talk about primarying people in your own party in the middle of a brawl for America. I talk to people in real life that actually think their votes for Bernie were deleted.
  2. The progressive movement is pretty much fucked if Trump wins. There isn't much damage to worry about, especially since Bernie already endorsed Biden. If Biden gets in, then yeah, progressively pressure the shit out of him. We cant expect Ruth Bader Ginsberg to hold on too much longer, they'll replace her with a henchman and then they'll pay someone else to step down from the Supreme Court and put another henchman in there. I'm a diehard Whig btw. Millard Fillmore was a staunch opponent of European influence on Hawaii, which I stand by wholeheartedly.
  3. Well, right now we have one real enemy, which is the GOP/Trump’s reelection. Why would she still hold out endorsing the only chance of preventing it? Is another four years of Trump somehow more progressive than Biden? Will her social media savvy make it suck less?
  4. Yes, but how much do the ‘rona seeking geniuses in the midwest appreciate that nuance enough to vote against Trump in November? It’s not what impresses us that does it.
  5. Oh fer Pete's sake. You silly gooses have done it again.
  6. I think most people are better at something than Kanye is at rapping. Kanye mostly had a knack for finding the right things to sample and hooks.
  7. Ok, bartender actually. My bad. https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2019/04/08/upshot/democratic-electorate-twitter-real-life.html She represents a very specific district that is not a good example of the way the majority of the US operates. Her talking points and portrayal do very well in certain places, like kryptonite in many others. She spends too much time railing against other democrats at a time when it is extremely unhelpful, which means she probably doesn't see the big picture or what's at stake this year. She only recently began to stop doing stuff like that and recently said yeah I'll endorse Biden, if he does these things. If Biden became more like AOC in his rhetoric, he would actually be worse off, election wise. That's the problem with making a celebrity out of a noob.
  8. She doesn’t even come close to scaring the shit out of the establishment. That’s also just a meme. She’s not very serious at all. It’s posturing. National elections are not held on Twitter. I’d agree with everything you said if we were talking about Katie Porter, but AOC is not helpful the way you think she is, just like Bernie wasn’t.
  9. AOC is a bit of a cartoon character created and amplified by the media. She’s cute, but she still thinks like a waitress with opinions on Twitter and not like a politician due to lack of experience. She has no idea how much her “gotcha” comments are used against her and her cause.
  10. An all-white marathon would be a racist race. An all black marathon would be the first ten people past the finish line.
  11. I think he’ll pick Gretchen Whitmer or Amy Klobuchar to get that Midwest street cred
  12. That plus a nice tax return and I’m like
  13. Another good one but old one is Shadow Of A Doubt, from 1943. A murder mystery that I remember liking a lot even as a kid.
  14. I watched this and a lot of other Hitchcock films growing up and it's one of my favorite movies in general. He was a genius. Even a movie not considered a masterpiece, like Frenzy has some real wowzers about it. This movie made realize Tarantino studies some Hitchcock. Frenzy came out in the early 70's when cinema was allowed to get a bit dirtier and it still feels dirty today, I think.
  15. Cuban Midlife Crisis Now that’s my kinda crisis amirite fellas? *puffs cigar*
  16. Maple syrup ain’t used fer pancakes North O’ the border I tell ya.
  17. I haven’t seen nearly as much as a lot of other people, but seasons 3-9 have a strong reputation and someone showed me a bunch of episodes. And man, it’s no surprise it was so popular, at its best it was even more subversive than South Park. Endless jokes and “oh shit!” moments where they get away with saying something awesome in a cartoon. I think for a while it was a show that really stuck it to the man, as weird as that sounds.
  18. Even Pluto had two cases so far. Shit’s outta control.
  19. They probably work for a law firm now, doing commercial litigation. Their coworkers probably think they made all their music in GarageBand.
  20. Wow. MDG responded to me with chart placements, like my ears lied to me or something. 7 years later, this is quite the Easter egg. The thing is, I really think they lost a creative step or three during that hiatus, so I can see why they rely on peddling mythology and stories of traveling the globe to find one synth that has 2 seconds on the album. Like... okay. Sounds fun for you guys. Clearly we are not owed any of that enjoyment because we are not worthy. But hey, we’re all different people every few years. I really think they lost interest in making music for wide release years before TH came out.
