Really, you have to just shrug and not take it personally if you don't get a reply. OKCupid did some data analysis that shows that the more 'attractive' females get 25 times more messages than the less 'attractive' ones. Some of them might be getting hundreds of messages every week. I think its fine for people to simply not respond if they (a) cant think of anything to say (b) just dont feel like responding. otherwise a lot of time is spent saying 'thanks' to people who you don't particularly want to converse with. Maybe sometimes they think they're gonna reply, but leave it till later, then can't think of anything, and by then they've received 25 more messages. If you're going to have a go at someone for not responding to you, bear in mind that you might be the 10th guy to do so that day. It really doesn't come across well.
