Inconsistent

some of you guys sure do take this little corner of the internet seriously.

Eh, rest of the internet kind of sucks. So I don't want this to be just another internets.

perhaps joyrex could consider keeping threads in nonsense/crap forum open instead of closing them. that way it could become its own forum.

I used to read Totse and that's how they handled it. I don't know if that would cause any server/whatever problems, just a suggestion that has no effect on me either way.

No - this has been suggested many times before, and the main reason I DON'T do this is it creates a playground for idiots that frankly doesn't need to be here.

is this a real opinion, or an entrenched reaction? seriously. i am certain i've pestered you about this before, as have others, and the answer was always NO GODDAMN IT NO. as if saying yes would be backing down.

really, the fundamental schism seems to be on what a crap thread is. it would seem you believe that HOLY LOL SNAKE DIARRHEA was funnier than Gravy Armpits. i strongly disagree! start a poll and ask the masses; i feel gravy armpits will win. before you bin threads you regard as "stupid," i'd ask you to refrain from posting stupid threads yourself.

why would letting people post in N/C be so bad? show the threads you're not fond of to a back room and let them deflate calmly. closing a thread almost always pisses SOMEONE off -- hey that was a fun thread, i was just about to post there, etc. -- and the energy the thread had turns to grouchiness and vitriol. then the crabby people gang up on a n00b, or start some shit.

there are halfway solutions -- some sort of voting system to let members decide which threads are crap -- but opening N/C really is simplest. have a shot of whiskey tonight and seriously consider it. please.

This. This has nothing to do with the pornographic threads or offensive ones. Just the funny one's that Joyrex and other happen to find "Not Funny". Armpits was funnier than snake diarrhea. By a long shot.

I know it's your forum Joyrex, but you got to let it breathe. I'm sad about the removal of tits, but it's justified with the ad thing. Deleting funny threads is not justified.

Part of this too has to do with some potential plans on monetizing the site, and I want to make sure that if the site becomes ad-supported in any way (frankly this is looking like the only way we'll be able to realistically afford the additional server space and hardware required to bring back the downloads and other plans I have), I want to make sure that the unneeded content doesn't preclude that, or worse, the kind of advertising here leans in that direction DUE to the content on the site.

I find this quite reasonable and would happily find my nice T&A elsewhere if it meant easing the financial burden on you and your children and dogs, and wife. Maybe if you'd led with this rationale it would have saved you some of the grousing. Will you get the ad revenue going in the near future?

Make it so that if you exceed a certain amount of posts in the N/C forum you are banished to that tard bin for the rest of your posting career. Having a forum for dumb shit works well on SA.

Ive always been worried by ironic racism, as it opens the door to real racism

this is pretty much why i don't talk to my brother anymore

used to be the occasional joke

now he p. much just seems to hate black people

and yet, he listens to rap music.

idgi.

Yeah, that aptly describes many frat boys and rural youth here in Texas.

Personally, I think true racism requires ignorance and anger. People who say racist things and have no idea what it means or implies frighten me, and it's definitely a problem of society. Still, some of the most open-minded, liberal people I know can crank out the most un-P.C. "racist" jokes, but it's always in an absurd sarcastic manner. Is it wrong? Not really, it's your right to say whatever words you want, but there's a time and place, you can't just say whatever and use the guise of "being politically incorrect" without consequences in terms of respect and credibility.

Well it's all subjective when it comes to what people find funny. None of them should be closed unless they are just total nonsense or spam that's the point.

edit. or offensive

i think if people dont like the way the forum is going they should stop showing support by donating money every month.

if joyrex is taking steps to broaden the userbase then we probably dont need to anymore anyways. i think the next step would be to add a lady gaga subforum . that would get lots of hits.
