I think too many people still believe in the American Dream though. It's hard not to when you're brought up your entire life being told, "Work hard, do well in school, get an education and you'll be set." Too many people DID work hard for 50+ years only to see their entire nest-egg or retirement/pension get sucked dry through the actions of the few elite.

I still can't believe people have no issue with wage stagnation for 50 years now while corporate profits continue to escalate...

BTW my interaction on facebook ended up with them telling me that "unions are the real problem, they drove the corporations out of the country" and that "Union greed is much worse than corporate greed". I then posted a data set showing the decline of union membership correlating with the decline in the percentage of US wealth that comes from wages, they parallel each other.... I said that Unions were responsible for keeping corporations in check and for building the middle class that the rest of the world envied. Their reply? "Screw it. Smoke weed everyday. We cave. Stand by, I will post my bank account and routing number for appropriate popularly mandated redistribution shortly...." They address none of the issues I point out and just go straight back to wealth redistribution, hippies, and socialism... WTF ever happened to READING COMPREHENSION???

Extreme consumerism.

White Collar Crimes.

Legal Concentration Camps.

Countries/Whole continents living in poverty and disease.

I am not sure why the focus has been on the distribution of wealth within the US because all of what I am stated above are the real problems. The real solution is revolution. The distribution of wealth needs to be a world wide focus.

Ending poverty.

Properly educating those that choose to be educated.

Ending unnecessary concentrations of superfluous diseases throughout the world.

This is what I will be supporting til the day I die.

Use 50% or more of the US and British military funds to do this and it can be done.

We are not the 99%.

We are the foundation.

Pull the rug out from underneath everything.

They can't get out of their mindset. It's incredibly difficult for people to change what they believe to be right about issues, because then they might have to admit that they're wrong.

Wow, great article Chen...

Kind of just leaves me with a feeling of hopelessness though. It just backs up my idea that it doesn't really matter what is "true". People will believe what they want to believe regardless =/

They will be "Cleaning up" the OWS protest area over the weekend. http://www.ny1.com/c...-site-on-friday

Everyone will have to leave, but can return to the cleaned areas when they finish. Protesters won't be allowed to bring any equipment back with them however http://www.dnainfo.c...t-zuccotti-park No tents, tarps, sleeping bags or other "banned" equipment will be allowed.

They have no legal reason to make the people leave so they're going through other channels....

In what could trigger the biggest single confrontation between police and protesters in the nearly month-long occupation, city officials drew a line in the sand on Thursday by warning protesters that they will have to clear out of the park on Friday for a scheduled cleanup, and that they will not be allowed to bring some of their gear back to the plaza afterwards.

Cleaning crews are scheduled to arrive at 7 a.m. Friday morning, but it was not immediately clear whether the NYPD would move in to displace the protesters before that.

Officials from Brookfield Property, which owns Zuccotti Park, handed out leaflets to protesters on Thursday with a list of banned items after the cleanup — including sleeping bags, tarps and other items that have allowed protesters to remain in the park until now.

Hopefully the OWS people don't fight the police and just use peaceful protest means, which may mean they get arrested during the event. Fighting, shouting, etc is definitely not good for the cause. They need to use old school MLK style protest during this. Sat, arms folded, eyes closed as the police come in and arrest everyone while the media captures it all.

in all seriousness, if they can actually pull that off, there might be hope for this situation.

Why the Used-car salesman as Iran proxy doesn't add up

A fantastic article that should make people sit up and think.

Yeah, as soon as i saw an FBI guy making a statement about this matter, when it was first brought to the public's attention. I immediately dismissed the whole thing as bullshit. The FBI has an history of finding some low iQ, easily manipulated random who sounds anti-whatever, then egging him on, supplying him with bomb mking materials and information. And if it's still too hard for them, actually putting the parts together for these poor unfortunates who really in any normal world would be seen as secondary participants or accessories to a crime that didn't happen.

Like that plane thing from last month. Where they bought him the fucking planes as well as everyfuckingthing else. grrr.

They want to make you nervous and afraid too. The 1% knows that tomorrow is the big day of pacific protest all over the world and they don't want that park to become the center of the whole thing. Hope they keep the MLK style. We need you guys don't fuck up!

badass. but i still stand by the fact that there will be a confrontation sooner or later. the change happens then....if non-violent resistance is possible, good things could happen.

I agree... I don't see these people just packing up one day, or even fizzling out... And I don't see any of these cities just letting these protests continue forever... It will come to a confrontation and it won't be pretty... Even if all the protesters remain peaceful it won't be pretty... And I foresee a tipping point in the crack down, where the police push the protesters to fight back, and then the shit hits the fan...

Just a feeling...
