Guest nene multiple assgasms Posted December 22, 2011 Share Posted December 22, 2011 why is it called dub step when it doesn't sound like dub? some of it does sound like dub. plus it developed in part from instrumental (dub) versions of u.k. garage vocal tracks. are burial and skrillex really in the same category? if the category is dubstep, then yes, they often are. there are valid reasons for not categorizing either as dubstep. how long before there is a genre called post dub step or post step? well, there's already future garage, which is kind of like that, although it's also sort of going back to dubstep's roots. there are also dubstep artists that have changed to the point of basically making a variety of minimal techno.
