Now That Trump's President... (not any more!)

Trump won't get impeached, it's a publicity stunt by the centrist dems. Though of course, feel free to surprise me.

If you're a populist-left kinda person here is some important news on the fake populist that is Elizabeth Warren. The real candidates are Bernie and Yang, she is not. I held off for a long time, and still held off doubt even though there were about 1000 red flags, but this is it concerning her, I no longer support her. The reality is, if you take big money, you are holden to the people who give you said money.

lolololol no. i mean, let's hope not. but really, no.

there's a thread for 2020 dem candidates btw

What I mean by real candidates, is that I mean they mean what they say, their views align with their rhetoric. Elizabeth is a snake oil salesman since she pretends to be populist and is really probably something between a Bernie and a Hillary.

And yeah forgot about that thread.

what does getting rich have to do with capitalism?

well, you know, the means of production are largely or entirely privately owned by individuals and businesses and, you know, operated for profit. there's that.

okay, what does anything you guys are saying have to do with anything I said? nobody provided any evidence that he's a "lover of capitalism" and him being a millionaire doesn't disprove that, you guys are making all kinds of generic theoretical claims that aren't related to bernard sanders, the person all of my posts were about

so he accidentally got rich?

yeah.. he wrote that book a while ago and a bunch of people bought.. that's why his income jumped in recent years.  otherwise he's rather ethical compared to the rest of congress who frequently engage in insider trading and own stocks of companies they are supposed to regulate.

sanders has been in 'public service', such as it is, one way or another as an elected official for most of his adult professional life.  i doubt he has much in the way stocks except for a the typical 401k.  he and his wife bought a 2nd home a while back.. i think it was a cabin or something.. and a bunch of people tried to make a stink about it.  he's a guy who is much more connected to the way average americans live than a lot of people in congress.  i haven't 'looked deep into his soul' or anything like that but his financial life seems much more above board than what people typically think of a senator or member congress these days.  i'd wager that he serves the public good more often than his own financial gain.  not saying he's a saint w/o dirt but i don't know what the dirt is because i haven't kicked over every rock of all the candidates i'm interested in.  if there's a spectrum of corruption and greed.. trump is on one end of it and sanders is on the other.  that's good enough for me if it comes down to sanders vs trump...

shouldn't it be in that other US politics thread?

let's get back to shitting in disgust on the bad orange man.

i've never seen Bernie denounce capitalism. he's obviously living in a capitalist country, benefiting greatly from the spoils of being a career politician with a national presence to turn a hefty profit for himself.... i've been looking a little and i've not once seen Bernie say that he 'hates' capitalism....yet his actions prove he obviously doesn't hate it, at least when it comes to his own personal gain. one might even assume that he loves it given how greatly he's benefited.

i'd be curious to see some evidence of him denouncing capitalism, as his supposed party affiliation states. he's obviously willing to turn his back on his 'party' depending on the day of the week tho, so no doubt he doesn't necessarily wanna follow with what they state are their own goals.

democratic socialism i think is what i've heard people say. mostly i'm guessing the progressives are aiming for well regulated capitalism with a much better social safety net and much better social programs. people over profit essentially.

so, trump bad.  i'm not sure the dems have the smoking gun they're after.. we'll see where the rest of congress lines up and if any republicans come out against trump and show some spine. the people in congress w/national security experience w/the CIA or whoever are up in arms over trump using funds as leverage to smear an opponent. the funds were meant for security for ukraine. so, i guess they're pissed he's using security funding to work his own personal gain.

the republicans are framing it as "he was with holding funding because the gov't there is corrupt and he wanted assurances" which seems pretty much bullshit but it's a message that will resonate w/his base and we'll see if it sticks. depends on if the other shoe drops and the whistleblower testifies or whatever.

we'll see.. as per usual.  i think it's pretty obvious the transcript trump is promising is being written/edited by Barr and will be bullshit.
