  1. Damn, speaking of Vaporwave, I never wanted this part to end. It's like an Imago/Memories of Music hybrid but it got slowed and looped in real time. The flange overtakes everything in sync with the visuals melting away. I didn't get much because I was so lost in what was happening. The variety across these sets is so huge. I wish he'd give it the Autechre Live treatment and soundboard each set
  2. This is the one holy shit. I couldn't understand why I was flipping out until I realized it's "Zones" done in the fashion of R+7. Pretty key too as it was the first 0pn track I ever heard. Surgeon opened a set in 2010 with it and it's been some real dicklickin' ever since.
  3. Damn-- if you're in any way a fan, this show was like a religious experience. I was losing it start to finish on how awesome everything was. I'm glad I went in blind. Another notable thing is that almost no one made use of their phones. I hated to break the norm but there were so many parts where I was like "I gotta fuckin snag a bit of this lush". There is an Instagram trend on certain reels where someone comments "guys will see this and say 'hell yeah'" and that was The Metro Chicago last night. About 1,000 guys going "hell yeah" lol
  4. Yes I flubbed his name by accident. Thanks for this link-- shame he died
  5. This was my favorite sit-down yet but more from a satirical perspective than anything else. It's important to know that Jordan is full throttle apologetics now in the spirit of C.S. Lewis. Any conversation that may seem to be about science, philosophy, politics, etc will inevitably steer towards the Biblical corpus and it can be a drinking game to figure out when it will happen. Daniel was so funny at times. When Jordan does his 5,000 word essay on Bible stories being psychologically true, he paused and said something like ".... you're making something very easy so hard" and it summed up the entire JBP experience in under 1 second lol. He gave Daniel a deference that he doesn't normally give to guests and it made for a much nicer dialogue. I know the Lobster King is full loon but I am grateful for these kinds of podcasts because, otherwise, my feed is diabolical: Shane Gillis and Matt McCusker debating the ethics of jacking off while your wife pumps breastmilk or Tim Dillon making an incest joke...I am not a refined podcast listener hahaha.
  6. I don't understand why you wouldn't just mime along to a pre-recorded set like everyone else? Besides, I want minimal manipulation so I can Shazam the cuts I'm into lol. That's what I love and hate about Surgeon--hands down the most "No Result" DJ I've ever tried to poach.
  7. Your last sentence is the reason that he's directed some of the best music videos ever but it can work against him on his films. "Under the Skin" had the same issue for me. While I relished Scarlett Johansson luring men to their death in her panties, it was all aesthetics and almost no plot...just like music videos. "Zone" is going for the "evil as banality" trope and does it so well that you kinda get bored along with it in a way. That said, I loved this movie. It was smart to keep all the Schindler's List torture porn oblique to the Eden-like "walled garden" home. Even though it takes awhile, all the idyllic imagery can't conceal what a couple of psychopathic shits Höss and his wife are. The soundtrack was quite IDM as well-- sounds like Demdike Stare or something. The opening title sequence did that thing with a really slow pitch drift like Nathan Fake does on "Vitesse" and I'll be dammed if that device doesn't trigger the worst dread when I hear it lol.
  8. Hell yeah brothers, thanks for the tips. I'm even more stoked
  9. How did it go Stocko? Does he press play on "Again" or does he haul out any other hits? Close on "Chrome Country"? I'll see him in 2 weeks but my curiosity is killing me lol.
  10. xxx

    Vegyn

Confirmed. It *is* really really good.
  11. I'm grateful for this coming out. I didn't realize "Multiples" was the name of their collab and Detroit pitted their slot against Underworld It wouldn't have changed anything because I've never been able to see Underworld but still--stoked to get a record at least.
  12. There was that infamous Hecker performance at some posh dinner party and someone commented "sounds like he's letting the air out of his Macbook"
  13. The quid was strong af against the USD back then too. 40 quid is $51 at the moment but at the tail end of '04 when the offer was released, it would have been about $74. I would just double GBP prices to estimate at the time because it was mostly correct. Give that an inflation check pegged at December '04 and it's $121 in today's dollars. Strangely, because of the nonsense in the physical media world that has transpired in the past 20 years, $121 isn't even controversial but it was then.
  14. I wish there had been a thread on that one. Not one time have titties gotten me likened to Varg
  15. What is this for real tho? I press play on war cacophony with an MSPaint dog whistle collage for a cover and first blush is: which one is he--"remove kebab" or "137 countries"? Or it's 4D satire that I've totally missed?
