Death Taxes "Pete Rock Remix" = ?

Been loving the shear simple beauty of this one lately:

After a dozen or so spins I can opine half-informed. I like it a lot but beyond that it's pretty hard to stack it against the first 2 releases. Loved TRoG but jumped to Team PoV since it dropped, so expecting him to remain on such a step-up trajectory is a set up for disappointment, especially as so many years have passed. This one feels like he's expanding his sound outward but not necessarily upward if that makes sense. Favorite tracks (no mentions yet too!) are Drown a Star (distorted, disorienting and funky in the best of ways) and the False Eye Closes. Maaaaan, such a fucking monster of a closer, I can't be the only one tripping on feels. Makes me want to climb to the top of a mountain and raise a bandana'd brofist as the meteor shower rains down. +1 speaker damage

I agree with you by and large that what passes for "conservative" ideology these days is deplorable and wretched. And the GOP can go eat their own asses They'd like you to think it so, but the left ("liberal" ideology) and Democrats are not the same. And even if they're an order or orders of magnitude more shit than republicans, they're still shit. The fuck have they done for working ppl economically in the past 40 years? They're bought and paid for, just by a different groups of rich people and the bet-hedging M-I complex. If you want to see Democrat shittiness in all it's glory please come take a visit to my home state (RI). They're a hypermajority, entrenched in power, and run the state like a racket.

I'm about halfway thru reading Ficciones at this very moment (a $4 used paperback mind u), so I'm guessing a coincidence like this was inevitable - You can't just hold out another 18-24 months?

I'm convinced a lot of the backlash has to do with Pitchfork successfully co-opting TH in the 00s, holding him up as a bastion to say "here, this is where electronic ambient IS AT," pulling him into their echo chamber, all the while having fuck all.biz to be arbiters of any technos whatsoever. I know a couple peeps IRL who know / know of Autechre. First was a kinda socially awkward but nice record collector guy that despite the aforementioned I often found myself in social situations with, and we'd eventually get talking about electronic music. I recall he told me he had the plain gold-cover LP by Aw Tek Ray and I was like cool I like that one too. I've been playing drums in a somewhat established local post-punk-art-noise-dance project for about two years now, and not one but two (2) bandmates familiar with Autechre. Our synth player is very much into Aphex, couldn't name another rephlex artist and doesn't like the 'chre for reasons you can easily imagine, but he's a few years younger so I cut him some slack. Our bassist is older and makes experimental electronica on his own with a pretty awesome array of analog and digital shit to programs and knob twiddle. He's quite good at it and it's impossible that he doesn't derive some influence from them, I mentioned the reverb on one track really reminded me of Oversteps and he was like yeah I like Aw Tek Rah. Anyway I'm doing my part by regularly blasting Warp Tapes (or the AMKS_1 skratchathon) TFO the whip at max vol whilst cruising the greater Providence-metro area.

Imagine someone questioning your 'chre fandom bona-fides IRL, and being able to pull one of those badbois out of your bullwallet. As for tees I wish they'd go minimal and make (re-make?) the one that's just the iconic æ front-center. A Draft tee w/ no Draft artwork seems a bit daft. More like Daft 7.30 amirite? And lo, apparently just this past Dec 27 they put up a 29-track release called "Solid State Compendium," which appears to be collected remixes, compilation trax, one-offs, &c. https://phoenecia.bandcamp.com/album/solid-state-compendium Not sure if this flew under the WATMM radar (or just mine), but whoa.

I get what they're trying to do, I just wished they'd kept the original artwork, and dunno, maybe put these new interpretations on the back cover or inner sleeve or summat. Seriously y would you fuck with this? If you check out the one they did for Harnessed the Storm, you might change your mind
