  1. this is really good. opened up a lot with it cranked while driving, lots of vocal bits buried & some cinematic/soundtracky flavors at times. thick and heavy and dense and catchy grooves. that last track is stellar, but the whole EP is great.
  2. i watched Godzilla Vs Kong and it was pretty decent. it seemed they were going to try to go a touch more over the top/cutesy at times and i wish they had maybe, the tone of that earlier Kong film from a few years before was pretty great. this one had plenty of monsters fighting which is what you want, and the hollow earth stuff was actually a lot more interesting than expected, tho unexplored really. maybe in the next movie…characters weren’t too great, all pretty trope-y and not in really any great/fun ways. needed another rewrite or a different director maybe, but i still liked it well enough.
  3. Modal Argon8x + Alesis Quadraverb, improv
  4. those fucking resonator sounds at 08:20 goddamnnnnn
  5. i half watch the Ableton forum and there’s been a bit more people added into the beta, seems to be opening up, and a steady clip of updated stuff for 12, 12 w/ Push Standalone, etc. nice write up on Meld here with some cool audio clips: https://www.ableton.com/en/blog/meld-a-look-at-live-12s-new-bi-timbral-synth/
  6. this is quite dystopian yeah. the all screens all the time thing is pretty close already, and as much as i'm a part of the problem for all that, i can't imagine stepping over that line into AR/VR any time soon. i've played with AR on my phone briefly and it's...kind of silly at the moment. i'm sure there's some good uses for it already, but i ain't seen them for me. the primal fear thing may be related to the obstruction of the face, which really is key for most general common societal interaction (among most people). hiding the face in any way is automatically related to games/acting/religiousness/etc., it's taking oneself away from the basic human interaction space as long as we've had tribes i'm sure...but the full taking away of the eyes is a pretty stark step. replacing them with a false version of that person's eyes really is a new level of inhuman, very dystopian. i think this is a level far past having a cell phone, and i was pretty anti-cell phones for a lot of years... it'll find a place at home/office (for particular types of work maybe, occasionally) the cool stuff with this will likely be gaming, science, engineering, stuff like that. it'll have professional and casual use cases but there'll be a much better version of this down the way that look like regular glasses, and those may become ubiquitous...but this is the car phone/sat phone progenitor to that tech. ^p much, minus NFTs/blockchain BS. this is probably another way of trying to push that type of tech on the general populace tho not really. a cell you can slip in a pocket or purse, ever since they became popular among the masses, can silence them, etc. this thing is a notch down from a goddamned motorcycle helmet, you can't just stow it away in a split second...it's on your face, tethered to you...it's not designed for public use.

  8. it very possibly was me talking about his stuff around here...i think i've got everything of his too, it's all very nice. he's got a couple of good collaborative things with Barley which are worth checking out if you haven't. i think he's got a few things in the works for this year too but idk any details...i'm looking forward to hearing whatever it is for sure
  9. these tracks are cool. nabbed them for Bandcamp Friday, $2. sounds somewhere between amateurish and overwrought exactness...nice sloppy combo that makes for a fun 20+ minutes. ain't perfect but that's okay, what is?
  10. wow the secrets of extraterrestrial visitations is available on Amazon.com finally! only $29.95!
  11. still worried tbh. this latest episode could breath a little better and the characters/story were better for it, but it really just showed how cramped the earlier episodes were. the jumpscare/horror movie aesthetic they keep leaning towards is very weak tho. there's a lot of heavy-handed plot point shit too just like in lots of modern horror that really grates after so many episodes (oh, show me the 23rd close up of the spiral tattoo image, i didn't quite catch it 5 minutes ago on that other thing. thanks for making sure i saw it again. can't wait to see it in 10 minutes somewhere else. cool. so creepy.) honestly can't tell if i'm not impressed with Foster's acting in this or i'm just disliking her character. seems a bit of both tbh...i get she's not a hero-hero, okay cool but also like, maybe sell some bits of why i should be interested in her at all? if she disappeared at this point the story would probably be better for it and that's sad. maybe more to come on that but yeah. and it's still crammed full. hard to keep up with what i'm supposed to even be clocking much less caring about any of it happening. idk idk i'm wanting to like it but
  12. danke! i didn’t know if many people would be into a sorta drifting digital-tribal thing like that… glad it ain’t just me that liked it i’ve been sitting on the recording for like a year but just reassessed it recently and did some quick mixing/trimming and it felt nice to kick it out. really appreciate the kind words chen, i’m really proud of the work & the final result, i know BttS is stoked for it to be out there now too, he’s really thoughtful & passionate about keying in just right on a vibe and idea, i think his stuff is just great here.
  13. We Are The Music Makers | Volume One by Various small EP: 3 tracks, 16:14. beats.
  14. https://www.npr.org/2024/02/01/1228316748/eu-ukraine-aid-hungary-orban very good news for Ukraine’s long term ability to stay afloat while being invaded by a lunatic. obv no one wants it to go on for three more years but if it does they’ve got some safety net $. if they can keep themselves together is another thing, i know there’s some turmoil between Zelenskyy and one of his generals rn.
  15. BIden's administration has actually gotten a lot of things done, a large portion of them good. but the bigger things that get attention haven't been among that so it's hard to make that clear to the general public. they've also supported a lot of really bad shit (Israel's horrific continued reaction to the Hamas attacks most obvious among them). the weird hyper-praise for all things vaguely left-ish is an odd tone tho. idk that he's the best, but he's been far better than most people understand and certainly more than he's being given credit for. his significant and visible decline physically (and likely mentally) is going to be VERY stark over the coming months when he has to start making more live public appearances for campaigning etc. Trump's aging a bit too but it's not anything near where Biden is now vs ~4 years ago. it's going to be hard for Biden to get people out to vote when he's the face of the administration, no matter how much of things behind the scenes is actually his hand. if Harris were more seasoned/likeable/trained for vaguely leftish politics she'd be the obvious face to bolster the admin's bid for reelection but i think i'm hearing even less of her over the last year than the previous years they've been in power. Trump has a serious shot, unfortunately. but i think most of us in the center/left/farish left of the country will vote for a goddamned Biden corpse puppeted up onto the stage instead of Trump so maybe things will turn out alright. it's always a back and forth anyway. 2 party system is the real enemy. down with the polarity.
  16. the only thing more boring than seeing Taylor Swift cut to for ~5 seconds of reaction shots 3 times a game is old guys whining about it. the fact that it gets under everyone’s skin and is inspiring conspiracies from the dumbest among us is truly lovely tho. keep it up Tay/Trav.
  17. now playing the 2008 12+ hour webcast. just playing it on my phone for the last few days keeping its spot in the whole run. first three hours is 95% hip hop. 9 hours to go
  18. be the Squarepusher you want to see in the world
  19. i caught the last ~45 minutes and it was good shit, need to give the whole thing a listen back of course.
  20. based on that sound, apparently someone's playing a CD of Daft Punk's Homework that's stuck looping the first few seconds of track 1
