  1. https://www.twitch.tv/sociopathogen mr Braintree is streaming a ton of unreleased stuff on Twitch, i believe he said there's about 15 hours worth, not even 2 hours into rn
  2. ^weird audio phasing issues in that video they play around the 10-13 min mark. plane is interesting tho but i'm no aeronerd. 10 year old me would've been all over it this line of thinking with the universal pressure / cosmic voids thing potentially negating dark energy's silliness is interesting. also lol:
  3. yeah that ~75% drop study came out a year or more back, i remember first hearing about it. it tracks tho i think, or something near it at least...but really, i remember being v young and my folks taking me fishing and camping and stuff, there were tons of bugs all the time. not just mosquitoes or whatever, just lots of bugs of all types. hell even on the roads, cars were splattered all the time in the 80s and the 90s, last few decades it's been much less, and that's not just a bettering aerodynamics thing from car styles. that's just in my ~40 years, with my shit memory, i've seen it (still live in basically the same areas)
  4. https://theintercept.com/2024/01/12/open-ai-military-ban-chatgpt/ hm, Microsoft's huge investment into the company, then their 'saving' the CEO by snatching him up then putting him back in place but now with even deeper debt to them, and now the OpenAI's done this, making moves to start getting in bed with the USGov just like MS. sure this isn't some sort of foreshadowing or anything dire.
  5. this really is a big thing. declines in insects and therefore birds and other types of animals has all kinds of knock-on effects. car traffic/road surface space/cutting off of habitats/etc. all is seemingly small at first but all combined has resulted in a huge loss of diversity and populations and so forth. many of these creatures (and plants etc. are therefore effected too) can rebound quickly if the offending change is reversed, but rarely are we reversing anything. i’ve got neighbors who keep huge floodlights on all night every night all times of the year, but of course urban areas/etc. have even bigger problems there…. calling it pollution truly is a good use of the word.
  6. preservation of human life is not paramount in all choices, nor even close to the only thing that matters. any knowledge of human affairs at all demonstrates this over and over again. any experience as a human should lead one to these conclusions as well.
  7. I know you know, most smart people know, it's just sad to see, and I don't know how we can get out of this cycle. quit watching shit that gives Trump air. quit reading shit that gives Trump air. quit sharing shit that gives Trump air. he says stupid shit to get everyone talking and clicking and it works every time, the center/left hate-sharing/hate-watching/etc. is a huge part of the reason he was elected in 2016, and it's the reason he's got a shot for 2024. everyone's still doing it in this thread and all over the internet and on all the late night talk shows and all the news sites and all the TV news etc. etc. same shit as before. buncha fucking idiots. i've been there too don't get me wrong, but man it's just insane how y'all think the 753rd cringey song written about Trump/video about Trump/whatever is STILL funny. it's just the same fuckin' trash over and over and over jfc rant over
  8. We Are The Music Makers | Volume One by Various https://notyetremembered.bandcamp.com/album/shift split release out soon via NYR Records w/ Blush to the Snow whose stuff i've been a big fan of for years. 2 tracks up now for checking out. ~43 minutes overall.
  9. yeah! i shared the Age of Intelligent Machines one too over on Mastodon too, watched a bit of it, Stevie Wonder + Ray Kurzweil + 1980s Boston Dynamics Robot Dog? can't go wrong... i'm sure there's some other gems in there too. tried the Cougar video but it was a bit blah. Orson = Olson?
  10. oh yeah he’s subdued but pretty into it. his sweater or whatever is fuckin great.
  11. lol um i think it’s just a great old doc with some BoC-ish vibes on the visuals and music. what about it slapped you in the face? i mean i think the music is pretty dope is that it maybe
  12. https://archive.org/embed/thegrandcanyonchronicles
  13. been watching some King of the Hill, Scooby Doo Where Are You?, and a few Rocky & Bullwinkles^
  14. listening to some choice episodes from Jamie Lindell’s podcast Hanging Out With Audiophiles/HOWA the past week, Carl Craig, Hainbach, etc. there’s also a good episode from the Sound on Sound podcast discussing the DX7/etc. history with some of the people who had their hands in its development and all: https://www.soundonsound.com/people/yamaha-dx7-birth-fm-synthesis-podcast
  15. i did 2016 and made some decent shit but it definitely wore me down, i think the last few months i missed some, and there was some weak ass tracks in there too. haven’t thought about trying it again, i’m making beats and music almost weekly anyway tho. it can be good motivation if that’s what you’re needing for sure. i remember getting some good feedback from others. meant to conclude by saying: if you feel the itch, do it, even if it’s only for a week or two who cares. just have fun with it or treat it like a toilet and just make horrid shit under a fake name or whatever lol
  16. lovely stuff. weird in ways much electronic/experimental doesn't quite achieve. i've been listening to bits of Suzanne Ciani's channel since CDM posted this last week: https://cdm.link/2023/12/suzanne-ciani-tube/ i know she's a great source of reference but just not someone whose work i've much explored. some really timeless stuff in there. Neverland is also really nice from what i've listened of it so far. but she/whoever is uploading stuff regularly right now it seems.
  17. only about halfway through but this is good stuff
  18. welcome to non-lurker status. read the rules m8 the most creative act. unless you're a filthy heathen just doing it for carnal pleasures in which case there's a hell awaiting you upon your death, lecherous man. as for my 2024 goals: i'm hoping to release some of the stacks of music i've recorded over the last 2-3 years that haven't made their way out yet. i'm hoping to write and record more music. i'm hoping to consolidate/weed out some of the sprawl of gear i've got. i'm hoping to try blogging a bit on my site about music explorations that i don't see others really discussing. i'm hoping to share some of those ideas in video as well when that makes sense. i'm hoping to try my hand at writing some fiction (but i've said that for 10+ years to no avail yet). i'm hoping to try out some more digital art techniques/photo manipulation. i'd like to start trying out some woodworking/crafts/etc. but not holding my breath on this being the year i start that. what's your goals?
  19. never heard of this artist nor the channel host but this is a pretty good detailing of how to make a good variety out of a few pieces of kit. in hearing how straightforward the guy's doing things (really just using 1 kit on the Rytm for a whole set) is pretty cool in emphasizing simplicity & good planning. could easily see taking that and pushing it for less straightforward techno of course.
  20. they’re available on Bleep & on sale in fact: https://bleep.com/release/9232-autechre-quaristicequadrangeepae the steel case Versions are still not available anywhere (legally…) other than the bonus CD, tho
  21. if it’s some cringey FB shit you can guarantee Rubin’s going to post it merry christmas everyone give this a listen:
  22. https://xkcd.com/1732/ click through for the whole thing which is well worth it not sure if this has been posted in here before but it's pretty stark and clear looking at it like this way
