  1. https://www.theverge.com/2024/2/11/24069251/waymo-driverless-taxi-fire-vandalized-video-san-francisco-china-town more of this energy pls America/the world. the dystopian future we all hate doesn't have to become reality.
  2. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2024/feb/11/biden-netanyahu-rafah-military-operation-safety-plan i’m not sure i’ve heard the Biden administration define anything resembling a red line but this is at least leaning towards that. if they don’t back it up it’s pointless of course, we’ll see, but it’s some kind of possible end towards the US stopping this insane blank check shit to Israel with all the horrible shit they continue to do.
  3. man they almost had me falling for the newest episode of TD S4. but then they just went oh shit, gotta cram in 73 more plot points in the last 15 minutes....shit, how do we set this up? oh, just go back a few minutes and add some 15 second exchanges setting up the exact most ludicrous circumstances possible for the big epic shitfan. actor playing Navarro is stellar, but really almost all of the acting is great. some nice character moments even in a lopsided episode like this. shame about the whole fucking plot and story crapfest. i would've rated it 6 scary spiral drawings out of 10 but they just HAD HAD H A D to * so instead only 4 scary spirals out of 10 (would've been 3 but the exclusion of excessive scary spiral drawings/imagery in this episode felt like a goddamn vacation so i gave it an extra point) *very mild spoilers for the episode design, not plot details.
  4. curious to read/hear some takes on the interview this weekend, doubt i'll be watching anything but clips but props on that one posted for starters.
  5. probably, i don’t believe anything coming out of Carlson’s mouth, but also i haven’t watched it beyond the ~4 minutes of his ‘intro on a Moscow balcony justifying why we’re doing it’. i doubt i’ll watch it but also, hey idk, could provide some useful info despite whatever spin/grift/bs/lies. edit : i’m sure nothing Putin could say will be any justification of Russia invading Ukraine/etc.
  6. for the record i’m all for western journalists interviewing Putin, or any piece of shit world leader. i just want an actual legit journalist doing it, not Tucker Brock Asshatsupremicist Carlson who’s a racist, meritless scammer.
  7. true true! i know they’re not always involved in the weeds, but sometimes some of them are, & i’d think at some point in the process of dev for the season at least someone would’ve went ‘um hey it looks like the tone of this is way off’ & raised some concerns…i mean the show ain’t pure shit but it’s definitely off and doubt it’s going to get redeemed in the last few episodes…
  8. i think he’s a lot more interested in the suitcase of cash Putin’s gonna be handing to him.
  9. who needs ancient aliens when there's ancient animals which were as alien af...animal ancestors/early animals is still a pretty big mystery tho which i don't think i knew before this vid. are still pretty alien
  10. lmao wow packaging looks to be custom, that could be a large part of that cost oh okay here we go: yeah so it's def packaging and some costs for the Atmos mixes (why the fuck you need 3 engineers to remix for Atmos on a record that's already done? ffs)
  11. weird, since him, Matthew Mcconaughey, & Woody Harrelson are all exec producers on the season i believe...you'd think they would've had some early notes of like 'hm, this script doesn't really seem like a good idea let's maybe suggest some changes' because like, that's one of the things producers can do, yeah? i think Jodie Foster is listed as an exec producer too, maybe her or jeeze, anyone really could've stepped in at SOME point in the process and noticed the dozens of red flags that were surely there during the scripting/development process. episode 4 was better in ways but went full horror movie bullshit at times. this season is whack, but i guess i'll finish it out anyway because at least some of the actors are good. S3 was really good, i don't think anyone around here talked much good about it but i thought it was strong as hell. as good as S1 imo. i never saw S2, heard almost nothing but bad about it.
  12. this is really good. opened up a lot with it cranked while driving, lots of vocal bits buried & some cinematic/soundtracky flavors at times. thick and heavy and dense and catchy grooves. that last track is stellar, but the whole EP is great.
  13. i watched Godzilla Vs Kong and it was pretty decent. it seemed they were going to try to go a touch more over the top/cutesy at times and i wish they had maybe, the tone of that earlier Kong film from a few years before was pretty great. this one had plenty of monsters fighting which is what you want, and the hollow earth stuff was actually a lot more interesting than expected, tho unexplored really. maybe in the next movie…characters weren’t too great, all pretty trope-y and not in really any great/fun ways. needed another rewrite or a different director maybe, but i still liked it well enough.
  14. Modal Argon8x + Alesis Quadraverb, improv
  15. those fucking resonator sounds at 08:20 goddamnnnnn
  16. i half watch the Ableton forum and there’s been a bit more people added into the beta, seems to be opening up, and a steady clip of updated stuff for 12, 12 w/ Push Standalone, etc. nice write up on Meld here with some cool audio clips: https://www.ableton.com/en/blog/meld-a-look-at-live-12s-new-bi-timbral-synth/
  17. this is quite dystopian yeah. the all screens all the time thing is pretty close already, and as much as i'm a part of the problem for all that, i can't imagine stepping over that line into AR/VR any time soon. i've played with AR on my phone briefly and it's...kind of silly at the moment. i'm sure there's some good uses for it already, but i ain't seen them for me. the primal fear thing may be related to the obstruction of the face, which really is key for most general common societal interaction (among most people). hiding the face in any way is automatically related to games/acting/religiousness/etc., it's taking oneself away from the basic human interaction space as long as we've had tribes i'm sure...but the full taking away of the eyes is a pretty stark step. replacing them with a false version of that person's eyes really is a new level of inhuman, very dystopian. i think this is a level far past having a cell phone, and i was pretty anti-cell phones for a lot of years... it'll find a place at home/office (for particular types of work maybe, occasionally) the cool stuff with this will likely be gaming, science, engineering, stuff like that. it'll have professional and casual use cases but there'll be a much better version of this down the way that look like regular glasses, and those may become ubiquitous...but this is the car phone/sat phone progenitor to that tech. ^p much, minus NFTs/blockchain BS. this is probably another way of trying to push that type of tech on the general populace tho not really. a cell you can slip in a pocket or purse, ever since they became popular among the masses, can silence them, etc. this thing is a notch down from a goddamned motorcycle helmet, you can't just stow it away in a split second...it's on your face, tethered to you...it's not designed for public use.
  18. <iframe src="https://mastodon.social/@haentz/111873104918456302/embed" class="mastodon-embed" style="max-width: 100%; border: 0" width="400" allowfullscreen="allowfullscreen"></iframe><script src="https://mastodon.social/embed.js" async="async"></script> ^tried embedding but that probably won't work so, Vision Pro users in public super cut, ~1 min video: https://mastodon.social/@haentz/111873104918456302
  19. it very possibly was me talking about his stuff around here...i think i've got everything of his too, it's all very nice. he's got a couple of good collaborative things with Barley which are worth checking out if you haven't. i think he's got a few things in the works for this year too but idk any details...i'm looking forward to hearing whatever it is for sure
  20. these tracks are cool. nabbed them for Bandcamp Friday, $2. sounds somewhere between amateurish and overwrought exactness...nice sloppy combo that makes for a fun 20+ minutes. ain't perfect but that's okay, what is?
  21. wow the secrets of extraterrestrial visitations is available on Amazon.com finally! only $29.95!
