Of ALL TIME? Too hard too hard I've got nearly 4 decades of listening under my belt ...

And what do you mean by favourite? Like, listen to the most (which could be hard because I've listened to Sugar Sugar by the Archies something like 3000 times in my life but I'm not gonna put a cartoon as my favourite band!)? Or 'most indicative of your personality in defining you as an X fan' ??? ARGH.

-Stereolab

-Spacemen 3 & side projects but mainly Sonic Boom and the EAR/Spectrum continuum

-the whole early Kraftwerk -> NEU! -> La Dusseldorf -> Harmonia -> Cluster conglomeration

-BBC Radiophonic Workshop especially Delia Derbyshire & Daphne Oram

-New Order

oh yeah and some ginger dude who twiddles knobs on a load of homemade drum machines but I doubt any of you have ever heard of him ha ha haaa

This is a good list, I'll use it for mine as it's close enough, give or take a couple

I'm assuming (from reading everybodys posts) that this is a favourite bands/artists. If so, I guess this is a pretty close list. (occasionally a few might switch places but this is a about right)

1. Bear vs. Shark

2. Plaid

3. Boards of Canada

4. Moving Mountains

5. Every Time I Die

It's quite funny, I can't stand anything Damon Albarn's been involved with that isn't Blur. In fact, I'd like a Blur a whole lot better if they were an instrumental band. Without Albarn's annoying voice, it's Cardiacs style art-thrash which is brilliant.

Nice! I especially like Bear vs Shark's debut album. I enjoyed Terrorhawk as well but some parts just bug me, where as the debut was nearly perfect.

the polysics are on tour in america right now. i think their myspace page for america is something like http://www.myspace.com/polysicsna - the chick who plays the keyboards and does the vocoder voice is about to retire in march after a festival at the budokan (mindphone) to focus on "being a woman and not a musician" so this is the last time to check them out with their proper lineup.

these are a few proper music videos from the band that kick my ass

Guest Wall Bird

Tom Jenkinson

The Beatles

Igor Stravinsky

Frank Zappa

That was deceptively hard to answer.

so hard that you couldn't even make it 5.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. I really wanted to think about it before just throwing in any old person I like. In retrospect, though, Tom Waits has had a tremendous influence on me and it seems odd that I didn't think of him immediately. Consider him my #5.

Oh hellz yea. Right Now You're In The Best Of Hands... is my favourite release in music history. I've never found a band that even rivals the passion and energy that Bear vs. Shark have/had. Terrorhawk is incredible too, but doesn't even touch Right Now...
