5 bucks for this.. really?

He's got a lot of lightbulbs to maintain.

QTF...

I prefer the originals, though I wish a Stadium Ice remix was there, as I've heard some that I thought were better live.

The show was such shit. Just the album, in order, start to end, with extra bullshit glitch wankery that made the whole thing sound like ass. Also, fuck Portland, come to Seattle next time Tom.

Edit: Some people hated it, but he spazzed on bass for 10 mintues or so at the end of the show, and that was the highlight. Also, fuck Portland.

I really don't see the point in releasing this. Pre-programmed tracks manually tweaked with the same random FXs we all know by heart.

Really really pointless release - was at the Hackney show last night and, though the amazing visuals were pretty much the point of the show IMO, the tracks sounded like playbacks off Ableton Live with Beat Repeat coming in and out here and there. Would much rather the EP be the 20-30 minutes of bass-based (hah) stuff from the end of the shows...

It's not really that tricky to come up with something that sounds better than the second disc of Do You Know Squarepusher.

I've only properly listened to that CD this weekend - what on earth happened. Not only is the sound quality terrible but again just seems to be the studio tracks with buffer override noises to vaguely link tracks. When he shouts out to the crowd to "make some more fucking noise" there only sounds like there's about 10 people in the audience.

It seems like I lucked out when I saw his live performance - It was around the Hello Everything / Just A Souvenir era and he seemed to be doing a lot of his live bass guitar thing throughout the entire set and the tracks seemed pretty different from the studio versions. Is Mr. Jenkinson known for his variably quality of live performances ?

Well i've given this good listen in the car - and I love it.

Its a pity "exstatic shock" and the rave version of "stadium ice ain't on it but I really love 4001, drax2 and dark steering... even if they are only slightly tweaked. I'm going to add "angel integer" from the hackney hd youtube vid to my playlist of this....... I still feel TJ gives his energy to the tracks and thats what its always about for me and squarepusher.... his drumming and acid line and melodies have a momentum that verges on the possession of my nervous systrm

Don't much care for this "EP"... Drax and Scopem Hard have some cool moments. Other than that, I feel it's all a bit too random, and Squarepusher has always been about the tight, well programmed details, IMO...

I agree with Phudoshin... I would've loved the Rave version of Stadium Ice, and a mashed up Ecstatic Shock. Even if they weren't "on point."

  • 3 weeks later...

Just got it this morning and only really got off to 4001 on my way to work. (4001 Didnt stick out to me on the album)

It does seem pointless but I already enjoy it more than the live Do You Know Squarepusher Disc.

I play this live ep a lot at the moment. Imo it's super cool, apart from that annoying bullshit that it Unreal Square. Jesus that track really does suck but the rest of it is killer.
