dr lopez
Michigan is really really good. Never sure how non-Midwesterners feel it tho because understanding Kmart and icy winter farm flatness (read: depression) is something unique to that part of the world. Sufjan captures that very well. Illinois is a wee bit o' too much twee. Age of adz was ok... Three good songs The electronic one is alright. The rest of his stuff is gash and seeing him live was one of the biggest mistakes of all time. So bad, so many dumb hipster bitches.

user
Casimir Pulaski Day and Romulus are in my top 5 Sufjan Stevens songs, I wish he'd do more stuff like that. I like Seven Swans but there's no track that hits me as hard as my favourites from Illinois or Michigan. I've seen him live once about 2 years ago I think, I went in not expecting too much and definitely not expecting him to play the touchy feely stuff I like and had a pretty good experience, liked the expansiveness of the show which had loads of dancers and musicians without getting too much of an orchestrated feel and it was apparent he's a really talented musician and bandleader. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k20kPqcllgs
Berk
Casimir Pulaski Day and Romulus are in my top 5 Sufjan Stevens songs, I wish he'd do more stuff like that. Yeah I'm with you on that. In my opinion Decatur also fits that list. At the moment I'm fooling around with guitar, trying to learn to play Casimir Pulaski Day, it's really fun to play actually, meditative even. Cryptowen
that song about john wayne gacy is really good but it's literally the only thing i've heard by the guy suggestions for a starting point?
Berk
I'd say start with Casimir Pulaski Day, Romulus, Decatur (Illinois and Michigan albums). The album Seven Swans is nice and consistent. A lot of his other stuff is sort of hit and miss in my opinion. But when he's good he's really good. Suffocate Peon
I love him. His music is so effortless in how it flows, it settles my mind and puts me at ease like nothing else. His music is never dreary or dull, it's always angelic and organic and lush. He can produce hundreds of tracks and songs lasting 25 minutes and not once do I get bored by any of it. His Age of Adz concert is still the best music concert I've ever been to, it was all-round amazing and pretty euphoric and nothing will top it. this is sublime
chenGOD
Never knowingly listened to any of his music until I heard this in a mix the other day: Think the album is great, gonna check out further - half-listened to "Illinois" while i was making breakfast today. juiceciuj
like michigan and illinoise. mainly the slow sad songs about cancer and dying grandmother i lol'd at this: http://www.clickhole.com/theysaidwhat/find-out-what-kanye-west-sufjan-stevens-and-russel-2383 “I think of the saddest thing I can and then add a sick dog to that. If I think of a sick dog from the beginning, I just stop there.” —Sufjan Stevens On songwriting
