usagi Posted October 17, 2013 Share Posted October 17, 2013 Can anything be REALLY boring (specifically 'REALLY') - if it has some excessively boring quality, it becomes interesting - boredom is when you're forced to pay attention to disaffecting stimulus, for example when you have to listen (because of power relation) to someone talk about themselves for hours, or when you have to do a monotonous task which none the less requires your attention, like organising data. A picture of a boring thing can be amusing (amusement is not boredom), what makes a boring picture is it's context, for example corporate art, where you are expected (by the form of the image, presented AS IF it was art) to enjoy some shallow, random piece of crap. Maybe the most boring thing is something which is HALF good - not quite excellent, not quite funny, not quite exciting - because it is too good to enjoy hating and mocking and not good enough to really enjoy. hey buddy, this is the boring pictures thread, not the boring posts thread.
